“Every city should have a superbude!!”
Reviewed 26 May 2010

Yes every city should have one of these. The superbude is excellent value, cheap infact! However this doesnt mean an inferior product. The staff are all excellent ambassadors for the hotel and offer great customer service. I stayed her with 3 friends and we had two twin rooms.

Rooms are styled in a very unique way and each floor has a dedicated colour which makes each room seem slightly different. Our room whilst quite small was well equipped with a tv mirror small desk and a good shower. I noticed rooming was flexible and they have the option of twin/double triple and quad rooms.

The hotel/hostel has a breakfast area which serves a good breakfast and also doubles up as a bar later on. We used bikes from the superbude and got everywhere we wanted to within Hamburg.

The location whilst not as central as other hotels was fine only a short walk to berliner tor and as mentioned we used the bikes to get around. Our room was a little hot but then we were there during a heatwave.

All in all a fantastic place to stay at an amazing price as I said if every city had one it would be my first port of call!

Hotel-Hostel-Lounge describes it all. The place is somewhat spartan as a hostel would be, but they have a very trendy decor like a lounge. A lot of creativity and taste went into it. Old beer crates are tastefullly covered with nice cushions to make up the seats they have in the dining area. The breakfast is great and is available for 7 Euros. Two washers and dryers, a microwave, and high speed Internet are available free of charge. After breakfast, the establishment thoughtfully provides board games that are placed on the tables for weary travelers. The tables are available for the rest of the day and night for people who wish to "lounge" around and drink coffee or whatever else.
I was especially impressed with Steffi. In addition to asking as several questions about our trip and doing her best to accomodate any potential needs we may have had, she recommended a wonderful walking tour to us, which we subsequently took and very much enjoyed. She also volunteered the cheapest way to get around the city using public transportation, and we saved a lot of money because of that. (I left wishing it was appropriate to tip the front desk!)
When we bought some wine and beer from a nearby Real (a supermarket), the front desk let me borrow 3 wine glasses without asking my room number. The next day my dad borrowed three coffee mugs to bring up to the room. If you choose not to do your own shopping, they have beer/wine/other at the front desk for a reasonable price.
I am 32 years old and I think the trendy decor is appreciated more by my generation than my parents, but they also enjoyed the stay greatly. My dad would have preferred more English channels playing American sports, but other than that, he was happy..
I very much reccomend this place, especially if you are travelling as a single person or a couple. Although we booked our own room, you can also book a bed, and stay with others, as you would in a hostel.

Very nice hotel, in a central area.
4min walk from S-Bhan and U-Bhan (“city-train”) station.
The design is very “young” but professional.
Cheap, cheap, cheap.
Staff is helpful and speaks good English.
Rooms are a bit small but perfect if you are using them to sleep and spend the rest of the day outside.
No Telephone in the room, but free internet.
No elevator (at least in our building/from our entrance).
Check out time is 12:00 and not 11:00!
All in All I would definitely come back to stay there next time I’m in Hamburg.

We stayed at Superbude based on TripAdvisor reviews and were not disappointed. Located a few blocks from the S-Bahn station, I was a bit aprehensive looking for the hotel. Build in a rather drab black and brown multi-story building, the walk down the cool blue entrance ramp is only the start of an excellent stay at Superbude.

The hotel staff are friendly, informative and helpful no matter what the hour. The rooms, colored based on the floor level (browns, whites, blues, pinks, etc...), are spacious and squeaky clean. 2 warnings, though. 1) Our room's window was about eye level for the traffic on the street, and 2) the shower head points straight at the shower curtain so water gets on the floor pretty easily.

Free internet access on the two Mac systems in the lobby (but why do they run Windows on the fine Mac systems?) and free washer and dryer facilities, which is really helpful after a week on the road. The open kitchen / cafeteria room and vending machine microwave meals are a really nice touch.

Final note: the interesting and stylish decor will generate more stories than any generic comfo-travel-stay-budget room. Oh, and we got an advent calendar for Christmas.

Not a bad hotel for the price, clean, spacious. Four of us shared a room. Funky furniture made from junk and old household goods (ie sink plungers used as coat hangers).

TIP: If you want to park your car for free then park at Nobistor Strasse. Its very close to the hostel. We stayed for 4 nights in the red room - a double room with shower. It was perfect. Clean, spacious and with a nice view. The bed was a bit hard though. You can rent bikes at the hostel and the breakfast is nice too. All in all very recommendable.
