Description: High above the waterfront of St. Pauli, our "waterkant" restaurant awaits you. Enjoy culinary specialities from around the world as well as regional hanseatic delights done in a modern style. Spend a culinary short break in the "waterkant" and get to know specialities from every corner of the globe. The choice is yours - either let yourself be seduced by our international specialities or discover typical hanseatic dishes in an entirely new way. The panoramic windows with views of the docks and the open show kitchen, as well as the multiple award-winning design of the british star architect David Chipperfield, help create the unique atmosphere of the waterkant. Alongside the regular dishes, there is the much-loved "Kiez" menu, created by the chef and his team. The 3- to 5-course set menus, which the kitchen pieces together entirely from fresh and where possible local ingredients, change monthly. Food for all the senses - that is part of what the waterkant stands for. We look forward to seeing you.

Excellent food, really. I ate fish, had some of the seasonal asparagus, enjoyed the wine recommendation. Probably one of the best hotel restaurants I've eaten at.

Restaurant was completely empty
Arrogant staff would not let us seat near the window because it is elegedly reserved! They had no reservations before 7pm.

This restaurant has a wonderful view, but we couldn't take our eyes off the beautiful presentation of our food. The meal was wonderful, with touches of whimsy on the plate but absolutely delicious food. It is worth it to order dessert too. You can watch the kitchen staff do their magic, which makes it all the more fun!

One of the best dinner ever. Great food, perfectly cooked and served in an excellent way. The menu is offering a fusion cuisine based on a "trip" of important harbour towns. A nice atmosphere with the view on the river Elbe and an "open air" cuisine with cooks wearing sailor hats.
Try the braised young pig cheeks and scallops, a great "waterkant" Bouillabaise (with scallop, lobster, gilthead seabream and bio salmon), the devil fish medaillons or the delicious ros roasted lamb haunch.

We came here for dinner on our last visit to Hamburg. The food was good, I had the traditional in-season asparagus dinner which was very nice. My boyfriend had the tasting menu. The food is a little 'nouveau cuisine' and the portions are a little small if you are hungry.
The views are lovely as the restaurant has floor-to-ceiling windows and overlooks the sea.
The only thing that prevents me giving this restaurant five stars was the service (a common complaint in northern Germany) - the waitress pretty much refused to tell my partner what the wines accompanying the tasting menu would be. If you like wine, you want to know what they will be before deciding if you are going to choose the menu with or without wine. When he asked again she said 'I've told you this already' as though he were a naughty child! This may be something that is lost in translation into English but as my partner also speaks fluent German I think not.
