“Good new and modern”
Reviewed 28 December 2011

Nice modern hotel in st pauli! Hotel couldnt be more then 1 year old! Everything looked Brand new!
Very crowded breakfast room, and the lobby was a bit small! Seemed like they didnt have room for everyone who wanted to check out in the morning! Didnt hear Much noise from the street.
The parking we got was at the NeXT hotel, 50 metres down the street, at some asian inspired hotel! The staf here(at the asianlike hotel) was very rude and when i Asked for some help at the front desk i was totally ignored by the woman standing there! Instead of helping me she took som guy in to the backroom and they where clearly hugging and kissing! (NO JOKE)
The parking cellar was spacious and okay.

Advantages: Great location, yummy breakfast, very nice and modern rooms, huge shower, good price, friendly staff.
Disadvantages: Rather narrow bed, no free wifi.

Rooms are very elegant, modern, well furnished and clean, as well as the (very nice) bathrooms, equipped with shower.
Quality of bed and noise isolation make quality of sleep very good.

It's missing the best mark because of a "not so great" breakfast...very standard, nothing exceeding a "fair quality and amount".

There's not much I can add that hasn't already been said about the Holiday Inn Express Saint Pauli.

It's clean and comfortable, and the desk stuff were helpful and polite.

Being located near the Reeperbahn (Hamburg's nightlife and red light district), there was a mix of people staying in the hotel, from familes to couples and groups of English and Irish men on stag weekends.

Access to the U-Bahn was easy, being only a short walk from St Pauli station. St Pauli is only one stop from Landungsbrücken‎, where all the boats depart, and a few stops from the Mönckebergstraße‎ shopping area. If you need restaurants, snack food or a supermarkets, they're all a short walk away and the front desk staff will happily point you in the right direction and provide you with a city map.

As other reviewers have mentioned, on one day the towels in our room weren't changed, but getting fresh ones from housekeeping wasn't a problem. Every other day, the room was cleaned to a good standard.

Although there was an airconditioning control in the room, it didn't do anything, so the only way to get some fresh air, even in a cold November, was to open the window.

The included breakfast, although good for a Holiday Inn Express, is a let down by German standards. It was a basic selection of cold meats, cheeses, plus cereals and bread.

Overall, I'd recommend the hotel if you particularly want to stay near the strip clubs, brothels and bars of the Reeperbahn, otherwise you could try one of the many other hotels in the city,

This Holiday Inn Express does the chain proud. It's comfortable, clean and the staff seems very much on top of things. It's not near much of anything, however (which is probably a good thing when it comes to making it easy to sleep).

I spent two nights at this hotel with a mate. We were in Hamburg for a social trip. The hotel could have been anywhere as Holiday Inn Express hotels are the same the world over. I think that is a good thing because you know what to expect.

The first thing I should say about this hotel, is about its location. It is about 200 yards from the Reepherban, which is the red-light district in Hamburg. Some people see this area as a tourist attraction worth a visit, but others would probably want to avoid the area so its important you know.

The hotel was very modern, bright and clean inside, and the staff, who speak English (thanks guys) were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was better than some four star hotels have. It had a very large walk in shower (room for two) and very modern tiling throughout.

The restaurant that serves breakfast was okay and serves continental breakfasts, cereal, juice and coffee. The hotel had a small bar run by the reception staff. it was a little bit expensive but that's what you expect in a hotel. Our room looked out into the street but I heard no noise from outside.

There is internet access in your room but it has to be paid for, Overall I would say that this hotel deserves its three star rating, but is closer to a 3.5
