The location of this hotel is perfect, right next to St Pauli u-bahn and close to all the main attractions. During our stay the Dom a huge funfair was located next to the hotel (it is on for 4 weeks 3 times a year) with plenty of top quality street food and entertainment every evening but our room was extremely quiet and we heard no noise at all from the fair or the Reeperbahn ( which is very easy to avoid and caused us no concern whatsoever). The air conditioning (which is easy to work if you follow the instructions-you have to wait 5 mins for it to kick in after programming) and ice machine were essential as the temperature reached 37 degrees outside. Breakfast is informal and plentiful. The room was clean and the shower in particular is very good. The towels are a bit thin but are changed daily. We liked everything about this hotel and would really recommend it. The only blip was when checking in we were allocated a twin instead of the double I had booked but this was quickly sorted out.

Stayed here for a 3 night stay and were really impressed. I stay at holiday inns and expresses all the time with work but this one is the best express I've stayed in. It's location is great! I road down from the Reeperbhan but far enough away to be quiet.

You can get to the harbour 5 min walk or catch the underground train from st Pauli station only 1 min walk away. All other sites are just a short train ride away. Loads of restaurants close by too.

The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are friendly the rooms are really modern with everything you need, great showe!

There is parking on site

Breakfast was included in all room rates it is continental and really nice! Disagree with previous reviewers comment about not enough to choose from there was plenty of choice with all items being replenished all the time.

There is a small garden at the back where we ate our breakfast in the morning, nice!

Would really recommend this place as you base for a stay in Hamburg

I arrived July 12th in Hamburg. I made this booking a few months before I flew. I picked it for the consistency that Holiday Inn Express has proven itself to be. The breakfast is included in your stay and this hotel had an exceptional continental breakfast, sliced cheeses, meats, all sorts of rolls, yogurt, coffee, tea, and boiled eggs as well as various cereals. There is something for everyone. The location of this hotel is fantastic. There is no airport shuttle you either cab it which is about 25-30 euros and half an hour or take the subway from the airport to St Pauli station and the hotel is 2 mins walk from there. A special thanks to Carsten Riga the Assistant Hotel Manager he was cheerful, charming and helpful with all our requests. This hotel is minutes from the subway and the subway system is lovely to travel on. Once you get used to the color coded routes you are good to go. You can get a pass for the day, for one trip, or for a family. And it is the best deal in town. If you are interested in taking some great pictures the harbor is a 10 min walk or you can take the U (subway). The infamous Reeperbhan (red light district) is about 10 mins away. I walked over to the Beatles Plaz and took some great pictures of that shrine. A nice outing. I didn't go into any of the shows in the red light district not my cup of tea. However there are gentle warnings to women not to go into certain bars or to the windows where the women sell their wares. Some of the bars in this area offer free admission however upon entrance you will find out that your drink is now $20.00. Word to the wise only go into the Reeperbahn bars if you like wasting money. The Hamburg Zoo is a great outing a bit pricey but worth every penny. You can do both the Aquarium and the Zoo for about 30.00 euro each person. And it is a day's event for sure. This zoo is clean and one of the best zoo's I have been to it even rivals San Diego Zoo which is again in it's own right a fabulous zoo. The weather is unpredictable it rains, stops, sunny, stops, cloudy, rain and the cycle repeats. There are always cafes to stop at for coffee and or a drink. If you are interested in seeing various areas you can ride the subway and explore the various locals and sample the bars and cafes. Bring layers of clothing so you can take them off and put them on again.

Room Tip: All rooms are pretty much on the smallish size. However this is Europe and to be expected. They are very clean and efficient, washroom has no bathtub but lovely showers and if you are a priority club member you get free internet-- a worthwhile proposition while in Germany as internet can get expensive and hard to find.

I stay at Holiday Inn Express a lot around the world and this was an excellent experience. The location is excellent and easy walk to many sites. I appreciated the secure underground parking and was pleased that the parking spaces were not golf cart size, walked right into the elevator up to the reception. Reception staff were all very nice and provided great hospitality. The room was a little on the small size, but really didn't need anymore to be honest, the best was very comfortable and had soft and hard pillows. The breakfast and wifi were included in my priority club package. When I needed a taxi to the O2 arena, the reception is plugged into MyTaxi app through an iPad mounted on the front desk, too easy and the driver arrived in less than 5 minutes. The Reeperbahn is only a few minutes walk away, the Fish Market and docks about 10 minutes. I will stay here on my next visit to Hamburg.
