this hotel has it all --cannot fault it --location , class, cleanliness and sophistication . could not ask for anything else . staff superb and nothing was too much trouble. Eating was an experience far and above normal and i would not hesitate to recommend this for a trip to hamburg

Room Tip: we had a courtyard suite --magnificent

I had to travel to Hamburg on a business trip, and was booked in by one of the locals to this hotel. As soon as you enter you feel las if your the most important person in Hamburg that day. The staff are really attentive and polite, while at the same time very professional about their job. The room itself is luxury. The views are directly to the lake, as it is only 5 Or 6 meters away. If you have an iPhone you don't need to take your charger, as the room comes equipped with a JBL dock. Even the TV shows it's class, as it was a Loewe. Nice classic style room with modern twists and very stylish. The bathroom was huge with double sinks, bath tub, separate shower, and enough room to play a game of tennis ! Breakfast was exquisite. And to top it all up it is right in the center of the city, so handy for shopping Or visiting the sights. No1 choice for Hamburg if you can afford it. I think the cost of a double room is around €300 per night but luckily my business associate paid for it !

Room Tip: Get a room with a lake view, as it is spectacular.

Just spent a wonderful weekend at the Fairmont. It is an old, beautifully maintained hotel. We were up graded to a suite and it was lovely. The bed, bath and sitting room were perfectly appointed. I loved the bathroom with it's large, double sinks both of which had a garbage pail. The etchings on the windows were beautiful. Our room faced a courtyard and above the courtyard there was netting so birds could not fly in so we kept the windows opened our entire stay. The concierge was nice and knowledgeable. They just kept pushing their restaurants which were good but a bit too formal. We ate in the grill one night and the food and service was wonderful. The breakfast buffet was also good except the seating was all over which could either be good or bad if you didn't want to walk the steps to go to and from the buffet. I loved the location as well. They have a roof top garden but since it rained every night I never made it there.

Room Tip: We didn't get a room on the lakefront and if the cost wasn't much different I would ask for it. It didn't make much difference to us but I could see how that would be a nice touch. On the other hand our room was very quiet and I'm not sure the lakefront would have been as quiet.

Got a good price at this hotel whilst going under some rooms renovation. Nice room on the lake side, great old fashion luxury place, great furniture all around the hotel. The star restaurant was closed but the brassery was great with fine food and wine. All the hotel and restaurant staff is nice and friendly.

Room Tip: Lake side is of course nice, high floor to be above the trees

We had a 2 night stay here recently and this is a fabulous hotel. Great location overlooking the lake and an easy stroll to nice shopping, canal boat cruises, and good restaurants. The staff are all very helpful and this hotel has a very calm and gracious ambience. Our room was beautifully decorated, with a large bathroom, and a walk in wardrobe.
