“Up-market temple to consumerism”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 February 2014

I was very surprised to find this in Hamburg - I had expected a bland industrial city. The Jungfernstieg area and a few streets (especially Neuer Wall) around it are extremely pretty. The wind can be biting but there are many designer shops and cafes to seek refuge in. The whole area is very high-end, every major brand competes for your attention, Gucci next to Chanel next to Hermes and so on. The jewellers have an amazing range of wares with 6-figure prices and half million Euro watches. Someone has money, else these shops and boutiques wouldn't survive. There are an amazing array of shops in a relatively small area. whatever you want, jewels, watches, designer lamps, bread, chocolates, shoes, hand bags, mens ware, cafes and small shopping gallerias. The surrounding water and canal-like waterways are fantastic looking. Very civilised, very clean. Apple even have a flagship store in the area too. You will find items to buy no matter what you price level and budget, but you'll most likely also drool over may more.

“The center”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 February 2014

Just next to all - the Rathaus, Neuer Wall luxury shopping or Europa Passage. And of course the lakes. Visited in February on a chilly windy day. Would probably like it more on a sunny day in summer over some terrace looking at all the people passing.

“Pleasant shopping experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 February 2014

Lovely area to walk round particularly for the girls as all the top notch shops are there ! Not a good place to let them go unaccompanied with credit card in hand ! Couple of nice shopping acades ("passage") and some good restaurants/brauhaus

“Heart of Hamburg”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 December 2013

Together with Binnen Alster view, Jungfernstieg is a lovely place to visit both in weekdays and weekends. There are lots of shops around to find most of the things you need. It is the heart of lovely Hamburg.

Not something very attracting for an area. Shopping challenge is though attractive ;) if you're a shopping fan, this will be a paradise, as every city has. The town hall is nice to see, the Christmas market as well.
