We stayed in this hotel at the end of a 16-day trip around Europe. The staff were extremely helpful, especially the evening waiting staff in the restaurant. We ate there very late on both nights of our stay, but were not made to feel unwelcome or rushed. Hotel facilities are excellent. It is a short walk from the main station along a main road.

Its a very good hotel that suffers from a poor position, though being quite near the main railway station and U-Bahn was important to us. Adenauerallee is very busy 24 hrs and so the windows had to be closed at night, you can also hear the U-Bahn beneath the street. Also, the area of worn-out grass opposite the hotel is a disgrace with litter. Parking in front of the hotel is metered and limited to 2 hours, but we were told the hotel has private space below. The accommodation is very smart and worked well with shiny bathroom and a walk-in closet with small fridge and safe. Reception area is smallish with good information available and the staff were attentive and helpful. Breakfast was lavish and high quality and - at last - teapots and loose tea-leaves to make real tea! (You can't make tea with a paper bag and a glass of hot water German cafes). The Captain's Bar was pleasant if a bit too snug and made good coffee. We were also give a good bierkeller recommendation (Groninger, Willi Brandt Strasse).

Pros:

Room - Average size and average comfort and cleanliness for what you pay.
Staff - Very helpful.
Breakfast - Excellent. Lots to chose from... Some items were interesting (May be strange to some)

Cons:

Location - When you come out of the station turn right and walk 10 minutes. Too close for taxis to want to take us. We arrived at 4 p.m. and had to walk through this street/ neighborhood that did feel really safe. I would not walk around here after dark. When we went out to dinner we realized that one block over was the red light district. We were okay but it's not for everyone.

When you just pass by Hamburg it is a good hotel to stay at. Good service and breakfast. Bad. There is no air conditioner in every room. It can be noise from the street if you have to have the window open.

Selected hotel from Tripadvisor and Laterooms reviews. 15 minute walk from Binnenalster. Relatively quiet but can here faint rumblings of passing trains and odd police siren during night. Set back from road. Rooms decently thought out and very clean. Bathroom small but well appointed. Bed very comfortable, Breakfasts have decent continental food choice. Free wifi. Mini bar. Suitable for business and social, leisure visits. On reflection I should have chosen hotels near Strandkai. Price paid was good value. Tom C Notts

Room Tip: Young lady in room next door told me the sauna was good on site! I liked Captains bar. Full of naval...

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. The rooms were clean and nice, our room had windows to the backyard alley, so it was quiet all night. The train station is in walking distance. Cab to the center but it wasn't expensive. The breakfast buffet was huge and very good, personnel was friendly and helpful.
Be careful when ordering a cab back, the taxi drivers tend to mix up the two best western hotels in the city, since both of them have 'Raphael' in the name, it happened to us on the first night!

Room Tip: Rooms with window to the backyard are very quiet.

Good value hotel. Clean and well kept. Staff are polite and friendly.
Get off the S/U bahn at Berliner Tor and walk to it from there rather than Hauptbahnhof bit of a nicer walk.
Near to bars and restaurants of St Georg. Turn left when u come out of hotel then left again and walk towards lidl. Then walk up danzinger strasse opp lidl and theres a lovely cathedral and bars etc at the end.
I say all this because we ended up taking a wrong turn and ending up in a red light sleazy area. Don't let that put you off Hamburg though as it is lovely!
