We spent 6 nights in this lovely hotel in August. We booked this hotel partly because of its convenient location just opposite the Hamburg Hauptbahnhof, as we were traveling around Europe by train. Unusually it was extremely hot during our stay and, as with many 3 star hotels in Germany, this hotel does not have air conditioning (not worth it for the few days in Summer when it is really hot!), although it does of course have central heating for the long cold months. It must be noted that, if you like to sleep with your windows open as we do, there is a fair amount of noise from revelers at the train station area until the early hours of the morning.
The price includes their fantastic buffet breakfast – there is absolutely everything you could wish for for breakfast, including smoked salmon and, for those who enjoy it, at least 5 different herring dishes or salads. On Sundays there is an added bonus of sparkling wine included!
We had a standard room which was basic, clean and with everything needed for just spending the nights – there is so much to see in Hamburg, you will not spend much time in the room at all! The spa area, which is included in the room price, is great, with a beautiful swimming pool and whirlpool, which we used every morning before breakfast. The sauna, fitness room with machines and squash court are all available to guests at no extra charge. There is Wifi available free of charge as well.
The hotel also issues you with a voucher for free Hamburg public transport for three days, which was very useful. As said, the main train station is across the street and the bus stops are also right outside the door. Friendly and efficient service throughout.
We visited the hotel’s restaurant, the Paulaner „Miraculum“ one evening and enjoyed the meal.
