“By the train station”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2014

This hotel is great if you travel to Hamburg by train as the station is just in front of the hotel so lugging your luggage is a breeze as you only have to cross an almost empty street. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The standard rooms are fairly big with the toilet and bath in separate rooms. Ask for a room that does not face the train station as there is no air-conditioning an sleeping with the windows open can be quite noisy in the early morning. There is a lot of indoor recreation like an electronic driving range, squash court, water slide which starts from the 6th floor of the hotel, a lovely indoor pool and spa. Breakfast is worth waking up for with a very good spread.
Shopping and a food court can be found at the train station, Europa Passage which has a supermarket in the basement , Mönckebergstraße with all it's quaint shops and Neuer Wall for high end and designer goods all within walking distance from the hotel. There are also two authentic chinese restaurants along the hotel street one on the right and the other the left. Highly recommended hotel for a reasonable price with excellent service.

You can't beat the location if you plan on using the railway. You simply cross the street and you're in the central station, you also get a free transportation pass. The staff was very nice and persistent in helping in any way possible. Room was ok+, try to avoid the single version, go for the double even if you're by yourself. Breakfast was solid and no noise in-spite of the central location.

This is a nice hotel but lacks air conditioning and Saturday night of the Gay & Lesbian festival is not the night to rely on an open window for cooling air on a hot night - so noisy all night! Impossible to sleep and uncomfortably hot. At any other time I'm sure the rooms are just fine, but last night was not pleasant. Great breakfast, parking available.

Room Tip: Check 'what's on in the city' before you book - being in the centre of the city, opposit...

except for the location, other features are very disappointing, though a reasonably good breakfast is an exception. The rooms are small, bathrooms tiny, toiletries very few, no air-conditioning, avoid staying on hot days, 3rd floor has no elevator, its combined with 2nd, so with heavy luggage, u need energy to carry suitcases around 8-9 steps up, elevator extremely slow and in poor condition, few staff members helpful other avoid looking at you, it is merely a 3 star hotel. Train/bus station right across , no other quality, bed and billows uncomfortable, internet works at tis own free will.

Room Tip: find another hotel nearby

This hotel was spectacular! You will never expect such a high quality of everything across the street from a train station. The room was really large. It had a closet, a table with a desktop computer with access to Internet ready, high speed Ethernet port, a very beautiful an roomy bathroom with infrared lighting, peaceful and quite during the night, and very elegant in every detail.

The amenities were extraordinary! A water slider that goes from the top all the way into the pool with an spa section, massage rooms, whirlpools encased within a special area like a crystal ball. It was so beautiful and incredible!

The price included a free ticket for local transportation and an outstanding breakfast with a cook for omelets and mostly everything hot and cold for a full breakfast. There are many other areas that we did not visit or used.

We will come back to this place fo sure: it is convenient because of its location and it was excellent in every aspect!

Room Tip: Our room was in the NW corner with nothing to view in particular but you can go to the terrace to ge...

Arrived early after a long trip from Australia. Easy walk from railway station. Room naturally not ready but free access to shower and pool to freshen up was really appreciated.
Sixth floor room, 602, with internal view overlooking the water slide was quiet but had to open window to cool the place down because it has no air conditioning. This meant curtains had to be pulled open and let in a bit too much light for sleeping at night.
Room and bathroom were compact with little room to put cases. Definitely a one person at a time bathroom.
Freebies were basic. Shampoo was good quality. No free water, no coffee making. There was a fridge / minibar.
Bed firm but comfortable.
Room clean and comfortable.
Travel ticket on buses & trains in metro area was very useful.
Breakfast included in tariff was very good with fresh cooked eggs and omelettes and a typical speed of meats, jams and fresh cooked rolls. No English newspapers in the breakfast room. I did buy the INYT at the front desk for E3.
Car parking at a nearby carpark was E13 per 3 hour to 24hour day. Price starts again when you leave.
Wi Fi in the room was good.
Money changing at the front desk was okay at a poor rate.
The very slow lift from reception is due to be upgraded on 7 July.
Overall we were happy with the place and would happily stay again.

Room Tip: A rear room is likely to be more quiet if sleep is important.

Many years ago when attending a conference in Hamburg, I stayed at the Europaeisher Hof Hotel. I liked the fact that it is directly across the street from the train station, making it easy to check in and drop off one’s bags, no matter what time of the day or night you arrive or depart.

I had looked in to booking a room in advance via a hotel booking site, but was disappointed to see that they were sold out of “two bedded” rooms. If only I had know in advance what I was told when I walked up to the front desk the day I wanted to check in--that all the rooms in the hotel that are for double occupancy have two separate beds with separate linens!

The room we ended up with had the two beds next to one another, but for two sisters, this was not a problem. Our room was of a larger size and slightly higher price than other rooms for sale on line, as that was all that was left when we walked up on the very day we checked in.

This room was a bit more expensive than we wanted to pay, but it was the last minute and we liked the location. The sightseeing buses leave from the front of the train station, across from the hotel, and there are several subway and above ground train lines that intersect at the train station, too. There is a tourist office in the train station and a wide variety of food sellers open for very long hours. There are several pubs and nicer restaurants close by, plus shopping and sightseeing attractions. An inexpensive laundrymat was a few blocks walk away.

The concierge was helpful in selling us bus and boat seeing vouchers and giving excellent suggestions and directions. The free wifi in the lobby (before our room was ready) and in our room (after check in) worked very fast and well.

There was a delicious breakfast buffet with eggs made to order. We were there at Easter and they had a basket of Easter candy on the breakfast buffet and sekt (German champagne) as well.

Room Tip: Book at a discount and in advance on one of the hotel booking sites, knowing that all rooms for doub...
