This place is one of those rare gems that manages to exceed expectations. It starts at reception. The service is super friendly, but not in your face. Upon entering the rooms, you feel like you're waling into a studio apartment. They are large with lots of space and handy little extras that you don't get in your average hotel room (like a coffee machine!). There's no particularly amazing views, but you're located near the Neuhafen and the water and there's a S bahn station a minute down the road. It's modern and feels really warm and welcoming. The buffet at breakfast is generous and very worthwhile. I would stay here over and over again. In a flash!

Dear "Sandyshakes",
thank you very much for your very nice review. I am very happy that we even exceeded your expectations. A special thanks for highlighting the coffee machine cause we just recently braught them in. Hope to welcome you back soon at the Madison. Best regards - Thomas Kleinertz

We recently stayed at the Madison in Hamburg, where we were visiting to see "Rocky". It was a pleasant 12 minute walk to the theater, and a great location for many other attractions in the city.
The hotel is modern, comfortable and well-run. Rooms are spacious, simply, but tastefully, furnished, and equipped with a basic kitchen-ideal for longer stays. As other reviewers have noted, there's a bountiful buffet breakfast that may negate the need for lunch. Staff is friendly, helpful and efficient. You won't want much more from a hotel, unless you are looking for uniformed doormen and a team of porters, which the Madison doesn't have. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: There are some larger rooms, [ours had a small balcony from which we could sample the weather each morning], and though more expensive, not unreasonably so, and good value.

A short stay featured the following:
Excellent room with cooking facilities and window that opens for fresh air! Great bathroom.Excellent tv.
Superb breakfast with huge choice (until 12 on Sunday)
Easy access to main shopping.
Good lounge area and seating without the necessity to buy anything.
Sweets on the bar! Fruit everywhere, all free.
Staff superb.All speaking English.

Room Tip: Higher rooms are quieter in an already quiet hotel.

If you are going to Hamburg on business, this is where you want to be. The rooms are an excellent size and very well equipped. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, which is definitely not a given in Germany. The price is also reasonable. The breakfast is excellent although somewhat costly if you don't take full advantage of the generous spread. The location is good to get to the main business, shopping and tourist attractions. There is a fitness centre with a spa in the same building and use of the facilities is free for hotel guests up to noon every day. It is far and away the best fitness centre, I have been to in a hotel. As every glowing review needs to be spiced with a bit of salt, the speed of the wifi service could be improved. In summary, what more could you expect?

Every single member of staff has a smile and greeting for you giving you that feeling of a family.
Rooms are spotless, service is second to none, staff are friendly and helpful.

The location is perfect for everything that Hamburg has to offer.
