“Good spot in a huge city”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 September 2013

Hamburg looks massive, and no wonder it is the second largest German city after Berlin. Getting in by car was very confusing, but when we found the Mercure hotel (which we had booked online) we realized that we were quite conveniently located. The city centre is around 25 minutes by foot, but the S-Bahn (Hammerbrooke) is 2 blocks away, and for a family of 4 it pays to get a day ticket for €10.40 which lets you access all the network for a whole day. Mercure Hotels are very well-priced and very family-friendly. I always remind this to myself when I end up in one of them, and I always say that I am so glad to have become an Accor member... infact, this time round, it heped us to have free wi-fi, when normally one would have to pay for a day of wi-fi. Our Superior room was fine for the 2 nights we had planned. In my opinion, the F+B level at this hotel is top-notch. Congratulations to the team, as we were pleasantly surprised by the very good food and the very reasonable prices. We dined in the hotel both nights... One night we had a very good set menu for €13 a head, and the next day we tried the buffet for €21 per person. On both occasions, we have nothing but good words to say. Kids liked it too. Bar area is very comfortable and the staff (especially the F+B staff) are very good. Definitely recommended.

We spend one night at Mercure Hamburg City in July in our family of two adult sand two kids (1, 4). It was a plesent stay since we book a supieror room with seperate bedroom for our smallest kid. The room was nice and the walking distance to city center ok. Cheap. The breakfast at the hotel was quite expensive so we just had this in the room.

Location - office area, nothing around, along a busy road. Downtown is close yes, but you'll have to walk surrounded by disrupted buildings and railway's bridges, you get the picture. Plenty of parking for 14 euro a day, very limited free parking. Subway close by.
Hotel - my room was the best part of it. Large, renovated and facing the backyard very quiet. Bathroom a bit cheap looking. I can't comment on the usually terrible AC of the Accor's Hotel because it was quite cool outside.
Standard breakfast. Hotel bar was very busy with only a waitress jumping all over trying to be quick and friendly. Check in and check out was smooth.

Room Tip: Room on the fromt face a busy road, room on the back a very unispiring backyard but quiet.

The hotel isn't in the prettiest part of Hamburg but is within a 10-15 minute walk of the centre and there are good public transport options. I didnt use the car park but there seemed to be lots of spaces. The staff who welcomed me were friendly and helpful and they offered me a few tips.

I booked a 'Privilege Room' in a recent Le Club sale and this was well worth the money. Aside from the fact that the room was massive and very comfortable, wifi and the well-stocked minibar were included in the price. There's also a Tassimo coffee/tea machine in the room which is a nice touch. I would thoroughly recommend this option!

I had a very pleasant stay overall. A visit to the small but quiet sauna was great too!

Excellent location about 10 mins walk to S Bahn, but lots of steps up & down quayside. Rooms clean but Aircon a bit unimpressive, as it sounded as if it worked but output was poor. Staff helpful in giving out town guides. Wifi extra so signed up as business customer and it was magically free!
Breakfast very good, with both hot & cold - a highlight.
