Genuine design hotel in a very tasteful seaside style. We were surprised about the lively atmosphere considering the fact that the hotel had opened just 6 weeks prior to our stay. Various original ideas i.e. elevators in transport box look, a vinyl library for leisure-time DJs and a roof-top sauna incorporating a former ship container with a beautiful view over the entire harbor city including the cruise terminal and the stunning Elbphilharmonie opera house. There is still quite a bit of construction going on in the area but noise was luckily not an issue. Other interesting features included free available iPads, bicycles and Minis for hotel guests. Limited hotel parking spaces in the nearby parking garage.
The service team was very pleasant and always keen on helping. We had dinner at the restaurant called "Heimat" (=home country) one night and were very pleased with what we got, including good down-to-earth international-style dishes with ingredients coming mostly from local suppliers and mainly organic. My wife had the lamb sausage while I chose the delicious burger as a main dish. The waiters and waitresses were attentive and the overall value for the money quite decent. The awesome breakfast included freshly pressed orange juice, delicious bread rolls and some of the best scrambled eggs ever! Both available space and number of tables are rather limited though so it can be a bit hectic during the peak hours. The price of 16 euros is not exactly cheap but the quality is clearly above-average (and certainly much better than any big international hotel chain I have been to). I would certainly recommend trying it the first day to get an impression!
Our room was located in the 6th floor towards the back so no particular view to brag about. However, it was very quiet and the style was exceptional - especially the modern and tasteful bathroom design were impressive. We slept on a French-style bed (perhaps a little narrow for some couples) with rugged bed-linen (very compatible with the overall design theme, but perhaps a little rough for some folks). Cool brand for soap, shampoo and shower gel - all organic - developed exclusively for 25h hotels called "Stop the water while using me" (we caught ourselves following this advice which is a good thing we would say). Other cute details included a hot-water bottle and a stuffed animal on our bed.
Overall a very pleasant experience and we will definitely consider it again for our next visit to Hamburg!
