Happy stay at the 25h hafencity because

-very good food at the restaurant HEIMAT (try the burger, it`s delicious and a lot)
-the staff at the front office, restaurant and the shop (it`s a little paradies)
-the whole hotel is under the theme "sailor" and "sea" - and in the end you enjoy your breakfast (again at the HEIMAT) and queen mary 2 (big ship) is just right outside of the window :-)
-the breakfast buffet is amazing
-the beds are very comfortable, the rooms are great, very clean
-the hafensauna on the top floor (again with the view of the harbor)

And one special thing:
While having breakfast and wandering around at the buffet, I realized that most of the other guests are really nice. Happened that some greeted us. I had some chats here and there and met some people. I guess this is the only part of this fantastic hotel that feels like a youth hostel. For me it`s the ideal place to spend a weekend with a friend and discover Hamburg.

Room Tip: room to the inner courtyard, I loved it because I had the view of the other buildings with beautiful apartments. I enjoyed the view of the harbor at the hafensauna and at the restaurant.

Being from Seattle, I know the kind of place that is funky and interesting and aimed at the 20-something set. This place was almost a caricature of itself in that regard, but did pull back just in time to avoid being too cliché.

The rooms were a fair size considering the location. They are located in the newly redeveloped harbour area of Hamburg about 10 minutes walk to the old town area. The beds were a little firm for my taste, but actually helped with some back issues I had been having so I was a bit grateful for that!

The restaurant did a really good spread for breakfast (though it was 17 EUR so a bit pricey for basically continental breakfast) with lots of good German breads and cheeses along with fluffy pastries and other goodies.

There was a number of "hang out" type loungey areas (on the first floor) as well as a cool conference room made from a shipping container (again, it is in the port area). Of course, they also had a fairly large gift shop in the lobby where you could pick up some design related stuff.

My one complaint (I actually got past the overly trendy stuff) was that there was no workout room in the hotel - I've run into this a few times in Europe where it is geared more toward the drinking set vs. the business set (they do have a sauna but no exercise equipment from what I could tell) and it was a little cold and rainy to do it outside (so I just slept in!).

You generally know a hipster hotel when you see it and Hotel Hafen city in the new harbour area, about 20 minutes walking from the city centre is certainly that.

There are lots of interesting spaces in the hotel filled with amenities that appeal to a creative minded people - original artwork, apple macs, interesting books (mostly design/photography) are available in the room and free Mini Cooper S given to guests for up to 4 hours. The icing on the cake for me was the vinyl listening room which i spent many an evening in relaxing to a variety of records.

Rooms are quirky but comfortable and there is a general nautical theme throughout in keeping with its location. I didn't try the food here but the staff seemed friendly and cool in an "I'm also a resident dj, tattoo artist" kind of way.

i stayed here on business but would certainly come back on a leisure trip.

Journals, bicycles and seamen all over the place! A cozy room with a double-decker bed at a special rate of around 90 € for single occupation. But - you can't take eyes off the walls when you are there. Would always book it again ... at that rate though!

This hotel is undoubtedly quirky and won't be to everyone's taste. The whole place has a nautical theme - there are rope ladders and bunk beds in some rooms and the meeting room has been fashioned from an old shipping container. Personally I found it to be a refreshing alternative to the bland chain hotels.

The room was very smart and stylish, the service was always friendly and efficient and the breakfast buffet was pretty good. The only real down side is that the HafenCity area can be very quiet and sterile in the evenings, although the centre of the city isn't too far to walk. I would happily stay there again.
