“Great Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 December 2013

Was at the Treudelberg hotel a couple of weeks back on business and as usual this is a great hotel. From the minute you enter you know you are in good hands and the staff are all very warm and friendly. The facilities on offer are of a very high standard as I used the gym and pool and they had all the modern equipment and the pool facilities were very clean. I stayed in the Atrium section of the hotel which is very modern, comfortable and I had a great sleep. Breakfast was excellent and a huge choice and the bar staff are very attentive. The rooms are very modern, internet access and spacious - have stayed here on 4 different occasions now and would go back and recommend to others.

Room Tip: Stay in the modern Atrium the rooms are lovely.

The new part of the Treudelberg (Atrium) is by far the more attractive one, it’s modern and comfortable. Unfortunately the windows are not soundproof and the high frequency of incoming flights in their direct approach to the Hamburg Airport can be very disturbing.
Although the room rates are slightly higher I usually chose to stay in this part of the hotel. Unfortunately you will have to live with a lot of unpleasantness, like a walk through a tunnel or cross the property to get to the breakfast room. There is a very tastefully modernly furnished restaurant in the Atrium, Steigerberger most probably considers it too expensive to run two places to serve breakfast.
The breakfast room in the old part of the hotel often is overcrowded, very noisy and extremely busy. Waiting in a queue to be seated isn’t seldom. The quality of the breakfast is OK, a bit more variety of cheese (at least for me) would be welcome – I found only some taste neutral Gouda or Tilsiter.
The walk also applies, when you want to visit the Swimming Pool and the Sauna or the Gym. In the pool area it seems that there is big problem with the air-conditioning, the air is very humid and the walls look like if they urgently would need a new painting.
In the gym some machines were defect, but without any sign on them. The gymnastic mats are shabby, old and worn out. So are the weights.
The Finish Sauna also needs are re-furnishing. The wood is dark from being soaked with sweat and when laying or sitting down there was a lot of cracking in the woodwork. Sitting outside the Sauna in the fresh air is nearly impossible, the smell from the kitchen fan is unbearable.
Although I am coming since more than 15 years regularly to this hotel, I am not sure, whether I will chose it next time.

Room Tip: Although I personally like the Atrium better, I recommend to chose a room in the main building for t...

I booked a package travel offered by Lufthansa Holiday for the longer weekend in the beginning of November. You can not complain for the package price of 309 EUR including the round flight ticket (domestic flight within Germany) as well as accommodation with breakfast. A bottle of mineral water was served too in the nicely decorated room in the Atrium. The hotel room was very quiet, very nice bathroom with bathtub, wide selection of TV channel unfortunately not for free for Sky channels. The only negative thing was the non controllable air-condition, you can neither adjust the temperature nor turn off, so I was freezing during the night. Maybe not a good choice for the stay during the winter time.
You have 3 different places where you can chose for breakfast, the food selection and variety was good, comparable with that of a 4 star hotel. There was no choice of other drinks else than coffee or hot water for tea, at least I was not offered for any other drinks (e.g. cappuccino, latte macchiato...). The most unprofessional thing in the breakfast place (in Atrium) was that the waitress only served coffee to all other customers except than me... apparently she was not motivated to serve an Asian customer which happens unfortunately in Europe from time to time. However this well known paradigm should be kept to a individual level and must not endanger the entire reputation of this hotel.

Room Tip: Do not stay during the winter time, the air condition makes you sick.

Perfect facilities, very relaxing environment, very tasteful breakfast, choice of restaurants and teracces for nice food and drinks, large fitness room, large indoor pool, sauna, very friendly staff
Located far away from the city centre, so if you visit the city for tourism, better to choose another hotel

Beautiful, stylish, smooth, comfortable, polite, delicious. These are some of the positive words coming to my mind about this hotel. The only bad thing is that the AC cannot be switched off which was really disturbing for us.
Wb will surely use this elegant hotel during our Hamburg visits if they change this technical anomaly.

The location was on a golf course, so it was quite beautiful. Unfortunately, although the supreme rooms are very beautiful, clean and big, they do not over look tha gardens or the golf course despite costing more, the standard rooms do, but we were told are without air condition. The breakfast was very nice and breakfast staff were friendly. Reception staff more professional than friendly.

The hotel is very nice but I would strongly recommand to pay a few Euros more for a room in the Atrium. These rooms are bigger and a lot newer and modern while the rooms in the main building need refurbishing in my opinion.
Breakfast is very good, the restaurant is ok with mainly local food.
The Golf course is great, 27 holes out of which the C course is our favourite. You can closely watch planes going in and out of Hamburg airport but that did not bother us too much.

Room Tip: Go for a room in the Atrium building. They are really worth the few extra Euros.
