“Good value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2014

I booked this as a single traveller, as I was being treated to a visit to Miniatur Wunderland and needed somewhere reasonably priced to stay.

It is two minutes walk away from the central railway station.

Premier Inn it is not!

The bedframe was made of chipboard and the melamine coating had come away in several places, exposing the wood particles. However, the room, although small, was spotlessly clean. It had a wardrobe, chair and two small tables. A flat-screen TV was mounted on the wall, but of the 30 channels available, there was only one English channel - CNN News. There is a small safe inside the wardrobe, the key rental is €3, with a €10 deposit (as at May 2014).

The shower room was, again, spotless and two towels, liquid soap and shower/hair gel were provided. The water pressure and temperature in the shower cubicle were excellent.

The mattress on the bed was extremely comfortable.

Although the room was very dated, the breakfast room looked very new so perhaps they are in the process of renovating the property.

The breakfast consists of processed meats (choice of three) and two sliced cheeses, boiled and scrambled eggs, cereals, fruit and breads. There is a toaster if you want your bread that way. A machine delivers coffee in a variety of ways. Fruit juice is also available.

The two duty managers (one for the day, one for the evening) both spoke excellent English and went out of their way to help me with a problem I had with my tablet and wifi connection.

Although it's not a place I would take my lady for a romantic weekend, it is ideal for a single traveller or a group of lads. Many of the clientele at breakfast appeared to be elderly Germans.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear of the hotel - the front overlooks a crowded street, which is rather nois...

We couldn't have asked for a better place for the price we paid. The location is excellent, the staff are friendly and the room was very clean. Does what is says on the tin! Contrary to what a few other reviewers have observed, it's not in a red-light district (though there are a few strip joints around). From what we could see (the type of restaurants along most of the street), it's in the Arabic community part of central Hamburg.

Stayed for just one night at the Hotel Terminus – travelling with two younger children. I chose this hotel primarily because of its proximity to the train station and because they offered triple rooms.
The location is an easy, short stroll from the train station.

The hotel entrance is quite small and easy to miss. There's a buzzer for access and Reception is located on the first floor. The hotel has a lift, but it stops on a landing in-between floors, so you do need to drag your luggage either up or down stairs once you exit the elevator.

The triple room was clean, relatively spacious (for Europe) with comfortable beds, plus a sofa which could be used as a fourth bed if needed. The room had no ventilation other than the windows, which could be opened. They faced the street but the street noise wasn't bad the (Saturday) night we stayed. Room had a compact but functional bathroom. Reception staff were very friendly. Breakfast was included in the rate and offered a decent selection.

Found the best rate for this hotel through Myhotelguru. Overall a pleasant stay in a convenient location – the double decker tourist buses all stop in front of the the main train station, just around the corner. The area did have something of an “adult” feel to it (as in red light district) – I don't know if it officially is or not, but in any case, we didn't encounter anything that would have offended the children's sensibilities. There's no restaurant in the hotel, but there's plenty nearby. The Pizza bar a few metres down the road (turn left when exiting the hotel) serves tasty pizzas at very reasonable prices.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2012

Having read previous trip advisor reviews on this hotel, I was a little nervous to book it.. So here is what I would say is a balanced review...
Cleary the price suggests that this hotel is at the mid-low end of the market. For a fairly small amount of money you get spacious rooms with comfortable beds and good quality linen. An excellent shower and fresh towels. The man at reception was very helpful pointing out places of interest etc.
The location of the hotel was fantastic: right outside the central station. This meant a 25 minute journey from the airport and easy access to the many sights and attractions. Walking into the main old town, Reeperbahn or even the harbour was easy too. Some of the reviews mention the hotel being in 'the red light district': This is a total overstatement, a few sex shops and the occasional prostitute was about all, otherwise it is just a normal European district.
Our group had some twin rooms and a couple of quadruple rooms, all were fine!
So, if you're on a mid range budget then go ahead and book it up!

Room Tip: All our rooms were almost identical so not sure there is one to recommend here. Pete

Stayed in this Hotel in December for one night, It was very clean, the rooms were warm and comfortable. The Breakfast was adequate. The downside is location, this Hotel is in the middle of the Red Light district and that mean't that it was noisy at night. and you had to pass several sex shops and clubs to get to it. However it is very close to the Central Station and allows very easy access to all transport and attractions. I would not recommend this Hotel for families. Also you have to climb several steps to enter, so if stairs are a problem its not for you.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear of the premises would definately be quieter
