We arrived late while on a cycling holiday. Although the campsite is gravel it is fine for a tent that can get away with few or no pegs (we guyed our tent onto the bikes). The owner squeezed us in as it was fully booked. They also helped us with getting around and printing off train tickets. The shower was v nice and the facilities and grounds were clean and tidy. Location was fantastic only ten mins walk to the train. We found the site fine for what it is-a hard stand area very close the city. We thought it was great for the price.

try to avoid this place.Unfriendly , small and untidy grounds and electricity restricted. The restaurants for a description is small , unfriendly . The only favour I can give is that it was better than the terrible campervan park in Munich. I needed a special lwnght of electricity cable to connect my van. The fitting s were different. When I asked for assistance the owner was upstairs and could not be bothered. The power was restricted and a heater in cold weather was not permitted. A PERFECT DUMP

Location - great.. But this is NOT a campsite!

At best, this is a caravan park. Ok if you must camp close to Hamburg city centre, otherwise pay a few quid extra for a Hostel.

There is NO grass, camping lots are caravan bays with stone/gravel!!!

This campsite may be the worst in the world.... We were only staying for the one night, How bad can it be for one night? Well for a start if you are in a tent THERE IS NO GRASS! so don't expect to be able to use your ropes and pegs which mine needed to stay up.

There is only gravel and its extremely uncomfortable and it if rains forget it it turns into a pond. The Showers made me feel more dirty than when I went in. Floor was 3cm thick with dirty water and walls were black.

Staff not very helpful and quite rude.

If you are German you may find it more hospitable but they definitely do not like British people,

Take my advice stay elsewhere!

I camped here for two nights with a friend on a cycling trip in August 2010 because we wanted to be as close to the centre of Hamburg as possible. We stayed in a tent, which we had to put on gravel on a very tiny spot (it turned out to be basically a campsite for rv's, which the campsite's website didn't tell us).
Since we only went to the campsite to sleep, this was not really a problem. But for those who are looking for any extra entertainment or charm in their campsite, this is definitely not the place to camp! There is nothing there, except for some kind of a parking lot to put your tent and/or vehicle on and some lousy showers and toilets. We did sit on the terrace one night, but the bar was closed. Which was actually fine with us, because we didn't intend to spend an extra euro there.
This was the least charming but most expensive campsite on our whole cycling trip.
We decided to stay anyway and not go to a campsite further out of the center, because we wanted to be as close to the center as possible. And because we didn't feel like staying in a hostel and having to worry where to put our bikes and all that.
We slept in a spot at the back of the 'campsite', where there was not so much noise from the busy street coming through. But closer to the street, it's probably quite noisy if you're sleeping in a tent.
In retrospect, we would have gone looking for a hostel rightaway, not so much of a price difference. That is, if we had come here to watch the reviews first :-).

We stayed in the "hotel" rooms attached to the font-desk. The room was big, but the site is VERY noisy from traffic, hygeine in the shared bathroom and kitchen was horrible as was the attitube behind the front desk. Nice breakfeast though with a friendly woman serving it....

I stayed here for two nights at the end of June. Excellent site, the toilets and showers were very clean, cafeteria was good for breakfast. Great transport by bus and tube to the centre of Hamburg at very low cost approx 3 Euro one way. A great camp site to go off for the day and explore Hamburg, but also many amenities close by. Lidl supermarket 300 metres, Mc Donalds 600 metres restuarant and bar opposite the site. I would certainly visit again.
