Stayed here for 3 nights. There is nothing special about it. My room was tiny and not very comfortable. It is a budget hotel and is located in a bad neighborhood in a seedy part of town. The location has bad access to the few tourist attractions that Hamburg has to offer. Hamburg is not a city for sightseeing, perhaps for business, and I found it funny that one of the highlights is a boat ride through the city's harbor where you can see many cargo ships loaded with containers and nothing else. They have a beautiful collection of miniature towns near the port area which I think is the major attraction of this city.

This is a very nice hotel. A four star hotel for the price we paid (100€ with breakfast) we felt like really good value.

When arriving in Hamburg, we walked from the main station (Hauptbahnhof) to the hotel. The area was filled with casinos, sex shops, bordellos and other shady businesses. When arriving at the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised, though. Everything was really nice, the room was spacious, with arrival treats on the pillows and a nice bathroom. Service was prompt and correct.

When coming back to the hotel at night, my girlfriend was a bit scared of the last bit of walking, but everything went fine.

Altogether, it's a really nice hotel in a quite bad location.

This hotel had a good location, very close to the main station, although the area was a little seedy. However, there were never any problems and it was quiet. There isn't a lift which is unusual for a 4 star hotel (in England anyway), apart from this we were quite satisfied. The room was absolutely fine, including the en suite. I particularly liked the breakfast which was served in a delightful room in the basement. The coffee was exquisite! Breakfast wasn't included in the price but was good value for 11 euros.

We stayed here 1 night from 8 to 9th of March, when the prices for hotels in Hamburg were really high. We chosed City House for one of the lowest price (100 euro double room) & location. The location is 7-10 min walk from Hbf, but half of the way is not really nice and safe late in the evening... The Hotel itself looks very pretty outside and inside, two girls at reception were more than helpful. We didn't took the breakfast, so nothing could be said about it. Our room was #43 just behind the reception, but it was fairly quiet, rather big with sitting area and splitted bathroom&toilet..There are coffe and tea making facilities right in the room, so you can help yourself all the time or maybe have your own breakfast ;) This price is definetely high for Germany, and when you pay such a price you expect some things in Hotel to be, for ex., there was no individual set with shampoo, body lotion, shower cap, etc., only soap despenser...All in all rather good & comfortable place to stay with a proper sevice.

Have stayed here before and liked it. Stayed end September. Were given a comfort room though we had booked a standard. The room was big with a sitting area and a separate sleeping area. Coffee/tea are served on a tray free of charge through the entire day. The entire hotel is non-smoking which is a big plus. It is well located - walking distance to the hauptbahnhof but quiet and peaceful. The staff is extremely helpful.

I was looking for a hotel room near the main Hamburg train station at the last minute. Hotel City House had a few rooms the night before our arrival. There were some other hotels directly across the street from the station but the reviews were mostly poor.

We had some large bags so we took a cab from the train station, €4.80. If we didn't have the luggage we could have easily walked it. I got a little worried on the short drive though. There are a bunch of sex shops on the way and the front of the hotel opens onto a very narrow ugly street. We were given a room on the second floor facing west. There is some kind of auto shop across the street that is creates a lot of noise. Normally I wouldn't care about that but it was warm during our stay and there is no air conditioning. So it's either burn up in the west (sun facing) room with the windows closed or listen to the road/autoshop/water hose noise outside.

I also wanted to mention there is no elevator. Some may not care about that but if you have heavy bags or a mobile disability it's something to think about. I'm glad we were only on the second floor.

We had a double room but it seems like they took a regular hotel room and squeezed two rooms into it. However there are very high ceilings, I'd guess 12-13 feet. Maybe if they put a staircase inside the room they could put a loft up(kidding). It does seem like a waste of space.

The bathroom was split. I've seen this before in hotel rooms in Europe. It seems like a slight waste of space though. The toilet and one sink in a small room, then another sink and shower in another room. The water pressure and temperature were good for our shower. There was hair on the shower floor though.

The woman at reception was nice, checkin was quick when our turn came. Breakfast was not included in our 2 day stay but if you care for it it's €11 per person. It is a cramped reception area too.

If you need to be near the hbf, like noise, tight confined spaces, and the inability to control your room temperature then your Hotel search is complete.
