Cheap and cheerful Hotel in a really good location, max. 5 minutes away from the central station. Clean room and good breakfast. We would liked to have given 5 points but unfortunately on the day of our departure when we picked up our bags, one of the staff (a young turkish looking guy, working Monday evening around 6pm) assumed that we had taken the bottle of water from the room which is priced as 4 Euros because there was no bottle in the room. When we left the room in the morning the full bottle of water was still there, we never touched it. But you could see that the staff was not really convinced but in the end he let us go. He was very stroppy and when we left he just threw a unfriendly bye at us. You should really reconsider how some of your staff handle your customer service and treat your customers! And some new pillows would be nice too, no sleep at all on them.

The neighbourhood is a bit seedy and when we checked in, there were two receptionists who spent more time talking to each other than seeing to us. The room is small but clean and relatively comfortable. With the window closed the room gets hot; with the window open it's loud so it's tricky to find the balance. Breakfast is standard German fare. The tap in the shower in our room got extremely hot and is hard to avoid touching due to the layout of the shower - I got a small but painful burn.

Very centrally located, not in the best part of town, but good enough for a night. The rooms are stylish and rather spacious, the personnel is friendly and competent, and the WiFi works fine.
The bed was really good to sleep in. Breakfast is ok, nothing special.
Although it was meticulously clean, the bathroom had a strange smell at the beginning.

I can't review the room, because we did not get to stay in it. We didn't even see it.

We arrived late in the afternoon, tired from a day travelling, and having carted our bags up from the train station.

The young lady on the desk ignored us for a minute, giving a clear vibe that we were a nuisance.
Then she asked to wait a moment while she carried on doing nothing.
Then she finally asked us to check in.
Except that we couldn't. We were told that there was "a problem with your room" and that our booking had been shifted to another hotel in the chain. Which was back at the train station, where we had started.
And all of this delivered in a manner that suggested it was my own fault.

I was put off by her attitude, and stunned that the hotel had not tried to contact us (phone, text, email?) to tell us of the change.
I suggested that the hotel would like to pay for a taxi to the alternative hotel, as we had just walked from there.
I was simply told that "it is not far, and will not take you long"

I know it was not the receptionist's fault that our booking had been shifted, and it was beyond her control.
She could control her attitude though, and had chosen to be unwelcoming and unhelpful.

Perhaps this was a symptom of the hotel itself?

Either way, I will not stay at this chain again.

I used this hotel with a friend on a business trip. We had asked for central Hamburg location. We arrived at night by car. We were told there was no space in the car park so I had to park my car on the street. The surroundings of the hotel are very seedy and the moment I stepped foot out of my car I was "propositioned" by a local. i did not feel comfortable leaving my car on the street. The next day i was able to move my car into the underground car park for 10 euro a night. This is a very reasonable price; however, we were asked ourselves to go down to the car park to check if there was space. I would have expected the hotel staff to know/do this.
The hotel room was very small for 2 people and it could have slept 3. The room; however, was very clean, although one night we did come back to wriggling creatures in the shower tray.
The walk to the train station is very short and from here, only 2 U-Bahn stops into the city. I felt the reception staff were not helpful with knowledge about transport or local places. One morning we were greeted very rudely by a member of reception staff who started an argument with us and told us to "mind our own business". Apparently she thought she heard us talking about her (before we had even met her, and be assured we hadn't). Her rudeness astounded me and I feel the management need to deal with this (morning receptionist Weds 15th May). I never been spoken to like that in any hotel before.
All in all the hotel is OK if you are paying very little for it, but i don't feel it justifies the price or any praise.

The street the hotel is in looks horrible (lots of porn shops etc). But only 5 minutes walk to the central station and on the other side of the central station the nice area of Hamburg begins.
The room and bathroom are both small. But everything is new and very clean. Parking for 10 euro a day and breakfast for 7.50 pp.
For us this was the perfect location. We could walk everywhere and it was a good quality for a good price. When the window was open, there is a lot of street noise, but when you close it you cannot hear it anymore.

Hotel Savoy is really a lovely property and it really went beyond my expectations. Our stay here was short, but great. I loved the décor of the building, my room, luxurious washroom, all meals and everything there. I stayed here with my father, who was very busy in completing scheduled meetings, with his clients. So, cannot take out enough time for me. But, the staff there is really great, they entertained me a lot and I never felt being away from home. Highly recommended.
