Just about 10 minutes walk from the main Hamburg train station the Le Meridien served as a great home base for our 3 days in Hamburg. Situated just off the lake and two blocks from a bustling street of restaurants and bars, we found ourselves really enjoying the city because of our location. Even though the main port/harbor is on the other side of town, getting around town by train, bus or boat was particularly convenient from the Le Meridien.
The hotel itself was modern, with sizable rooms, warming towel racks, stand-up shower and large tub. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and we used the hotel fitness center twice, which was clean, well lit, cable TVs, and a good variety of machines/weights.
My only frustration with the hotel was receiving a free coffee at the front cafe, which seemed abandoned around 9:30 am one morning. The staff was not at the cafe, after waiting around 5-10 minutes, I walked to the front desk and they tried to help track down the staff. Another 5-10 minutes went by before the staff finally emerged to take my coffee order. It was frustrating to waste this much time when the Le Meridien was trying to promote the cafè, otherwise I would have never bothered in the first place. More
