We stayed at Pyjama Park for two nights paying £56 a night with a double bed and private bathroom booked through Hostel World (we booked the hostel last minute which meant price was higher than usually advertised).
I was initially a bit apprehensive about staying on the Reeperbahn but we didn’t hear any noise from street and bars and the area was more kitsch than sleazy, there’s obviously loads of strip clubs etc. but travelling as a couple we didn’t get bothered by any of the street touts. It’s a really easy walk to the underground to access all main sites and city centre and there are loads of funky bars and restaurants in the St. Pauli area, I loved it! Hamburg port and pier is also a ten minute walk away.
The best feature of the hostel was definitely the décor, I loved the quirky design and murals on the walls throughout reception and the room, all the furniture was very modern and the room was spotlessly clean. The room was quite small with tiny shower room but has everything you need. Free Wi-Fi was also available in the room.
The staff were all really friendly and helpful providing directions and storing bags free of charge, the only issue was that there was some on-going maintenance work which meant noisy drilling in the morning which woke us up, not good after a heavy night on the Reeperbahn but likely a one off.
Overall, I’d definitely recommend staying here. We had a great experience and love St. Pauli. Hopefully I’ll get to return soon!
