“Lively place”
Reviewed 22 May 2014

If you are in Hamburg on a Sunday do not miss it. People are enjoying themselves while shopping or having some food and even beer at 7 am in the morning. The market is open only on Sundays and between 05.30-09.30 am. We went there at about 6.30 and had a nice breakfast in one of the cafes nearby first. Must see, a different experience.

“Great Fun! Worth losing sleep over!”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

For me the real attraction is not so much the market itself, although that's is pretty awesome in its scale and variety, but the atmosphere in the old Fish Auction Hall. Live Rock bands playing from 5:30 a.m. with beer flowing and any amount of food you can think of to feast upon for breakfast. Try the Fischbrötchen - lovely! OK this may not be to everyone's taste but I loved it.

It's worth getting up early for. Take the U-Bahn or S-Bahn to Landungsbrücken and walk east towards the Altona Fish Auction Hall. Don't worry about getting lost - just follow the crowds because that's the only place everyone will be heading for at that time of the morning.

My advice is to make your way straight to the Fish Auction Hall and soak up the atmosphere there after which you can browse the market stalls. Be warned though, get there in time as all the action stops at 09:30! If you're having a weekend break in Hamburg then this is a must do in my opinion - you can catch up on your sleep later!

“Fish Market”
Reviewed 27 April 2014 via mobile

Absolutely awesome.. There's nothing to compare it to. Everyone's dancing and having a good time. There's a lot of vendors selling mostly fish but also everything you can imagine. Definitely a MUST DO early on Sunday mornings!

“Sunday Morning Magic”
Reviewed 26 March 2014

The Fish Market on Sunday morning was definitely my highlight from my weekend away in Hamburg! It is certainly worth setting your alarm for. We managed to get to the market just after 6am, and the stalls were already set up, selling as you might expect - fish, along with breakfast, fresh fruit, flowers, hot drinks, Beer and even champagne!

The main attraction for me was watching the live music in the large warehouse, The music was fantastic. We enjoyed a Rockabilly trio and Foxie B, who played various Rock and Soul classics.

The atmosphere is fantastic and it's the best way to possibly start a Sunday Morning!

“Highlight of my trip”
Reviewed 3 March 2014

I had to set my alarm clock to visit the fish market but it was worth to go there. I'd wish I had more time to spend with fresh fish, fruits and vegetables. Even early dont miss the opportunity to eat calamari. It was real highlight of my first Hamburg trip.
