Guided Walking Tour in Hamburg: HafenCity...

Spent some time here after a harbour tour. There are some interesting plaques around the bridges telling of refugees during and after the Second World War. The shops offer local tourism souvenirs and a great range of postcards. If you are travelling with a loved one, take a padlock to attach to the bridge and leave as your memento.

This Harbor is the third biggest in the world. Its worth going if you haven't seen it before. There are lots of beautiful big boats and lots of fine places to dine. Only problem I had was all the wind which obviously was only temporary!

There are many harbors throughout the world, and I've been fortunate enough to have lived in and visited many wonderful ones: San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles, New York, Southampton, Copenhagen, etc. What sets Hamburg apart is its sense of being a small town when it is a major metropolis and its feeling of being on a major sea body when it is only on a fairly large river (the Elbe). This makes Hamburg both charming and exciting, comfortable yet adventuresome. And one of the most bustling areas of Hamburg is it's harbor, Landungsbrücken, which is easily accessible by S-Bahn, U-Bahn, or car (but dealing with parking is not the best option). You can get a great fish sandwich, check out Hamburg's Hard Rock Cafe, take a Harbor Boat Cruise, see a cruise ship in dry dock or coming in to port, or just take in the myriad sights, sounds and scents of one of the best harbors the world has to offer. I love Hamburg Hafen!

Depending on the time of day you visit, there0s plenty to do and see. Take a boat trip or just go for a drink or a meal.

Great Place to get a Boat trip, and go around the harbour to see the container ships, its also a great place just to wonder about and eat at some of the great restaurants around the area.
