Many of the previous reviews cover the architecture here, but it is certainly a unique selling point for this hotel. It is a mix of the old, repurposed and renovated for the new. The building seems a bit cold and industrial (hey, its a watertower!), but the rooms are nicely furnished, the layout of the rooms is intelligent, and the result is a cosy room.
The breakfast buffet is very well stocked and the food quality is very good, including fresh juice, and good quality coffee. Our group also had lunch at the hotel one day and the lunch buffet was equally good, and the overall impression of the hotel restaurant was excellent.
The hotel is in an excellent area for both shopping and other restaurants, but the hotel is a bit set away in a park-like setting. This was appreciated as it means the area is convenient, but quiet. The neighboring rail tracks might be a noise problem, however my room was not facing them.
I was very satisfied with most aspects of my stay, with the exception of the internet. The Wifi service was weak on our floor, and I had repeated connection breaks. I complained to the desk, but the fix took two days to come. On our final day the internet was functioning well. Who knows... internet voodoo.
I would certainly recommend this hotel to other travelers. It is not right "downtown" but staying here is an experience, and public transport to the city center is minutes away. So, another environmental choice,... much like converting an abandoned water-tower into a modern hotel.

Room Tip: The higher up the better the view, however the lower rooms are also very nice, and the view across t...

For our first visit to Hamburg we decided to stay at the Moevenpick Hamburg. From time of arrival until our departure we able to meet the excellent hospitality that the Moevenpick Hamburg has to offer.
Positive about the hotel:
Location, right next to the metro you within 10 minutes to the center of Hamburg brings
Bar: cocktail happy hour between 18.00-20.00
Breakfast: extensive and available until 14:00
Room: fine bed and possibility to order additional pillows. Our room on the 14th floor offered a nice view over Hamburg
Restaurant: fine selected menu with a good wine list at reasonable prices
wifi internet
Our stay lasted 2 nights, which is not long enough for a beautiful city like Hamburg. We will definitely come to visit Hamburg again, and will certainly go for Moevenpick Hamburg!

We've had a lovely stay here for three days . Rooms are clean and nice. The bathroom has a window that gives access to the room which is rather unusual. The breakfast is overpriced so we went to a lovely bar, eating cafe on the other side of the railway track. We had both great breakfast for less than half as the hotel would charge us. Internet is not free which is stupid.
The cave bar is nice , waiters kind . The staff of the hotel is great and very friendly. The hotel is only 3 minutes away from the train station and it takes only 2 stops to central station . Would recommend this hotel to everyone .

I stayed at this hotel two weekends in October before and after a week in another country for business. As you probably know, it is housed in a previous water tower. From the moment you approach the ground level entry that takes you underground and up escalators, you realize you're in "someplace different".

Not only is there exposed brickwork in the lobby, but you also get the ambient "fake" sound of water dripping throughout the lobby-- realistic and quite relaxing. The style of the lobby and entry area are quite modern but understated.

My first stay took me to a high floor with large windows near the top of the building. It faced the harbor, had a great view, and the room was of excellent build quality-- completely perfect surface to substance, the floor, walls, furniture bedding and bathroom were absolutely spotless. As soon as you step off the elevator the lights above each room's door light up, as though they sense your presence. A real welcome and special feeling that you've arrived. This particular room had a walk in glass shower with a glass window (with internal privacy screen if you choose) toward the windows to allow natural light into the bathroom.

The desk, bed and all room equipment were well made and comfortable. There was a beautiful new 200mhz+ HD flat panel TV mounted to the wall. This room was a real experience. It was known as a business room. (Room 1417)

My room the following weekend faced more toward the park and featured a bathtub. I personally preferred the walk in glass shower as it seemed more roomy, though a bathtub may be the preference of some. (Room 1015)

All of the features, furniture and design of the rooms was perfectly thought out. Not an object out of place or an illogical placement of any plug, handle, button or object.

The staff was business oriented, not to cold and not "more friendly than desired"-- English was fine. I couldn't imagine a better place to stay and very near the Sternschanze train stop.

Room Tip: Rooms are assigned upon check-in-- you can choose direction/view, but also the best views come with...

This is a very different hotel to most I have stayed in. Its very modern but at the same time they have tried to keep original features which blend in very well together. It is very eco friendly but does not look cheap if that makes sense. The hotel has a warm welcoming feeling and the staff are very attentive too.

The rooms are not that small as some reviews may say, I think its a very acceptable size. They are extremely clean and well kept.

Breakfast is quite expensive at 22 Euro but actually for what you get the food is extremely good and there's lots of choice. At the weekend they serve breakfast until 2pm!

The bar is very chic too, and is very reasonably priced for cocktails. They have a "Happy Hour" where cocktails cost 5.00 Euro. Once again they have a very big choice.

The transport network is a stone throw away, overground and underground, so getting around the city is extremely easy.

Within a few minutes walk there are restaurants, bars and clothes shops.

Would I go back to this hotel? Yes I certainly would and I am very picky.....Well done Movenpick.

Room Tip: Request a room on a high floor overlooking the park or city centre
