Very good service all over. The staff exceeded my expectations...very friendly and helpful for a german city. The location of the hotel is great, in a nice park with playgrounds, 5 min from the Japoneeze garden and the Botanic garden. 15 min by walk to the center. The design is extremly modern and luxurious. But the juniour suit was quite small and and the windows do not open. I think none of the hotel windows can open. :-( The sound of the water ( the hotel was once a water house) in the reception is really great (they have speaker everywhere). The buffet breakfast was the best ever, with sparkling wine and huge variety of food.

The Moevenpick in Hamburg is an experience.
The building an old watertower offers new details every day.
If your room is in the upper part of the hotel (e.g. like ours in 14th floor) you have a great panorama of city and harbor.

Location
Good location to explore Hamburg. Schanzenviertel, St. Pauli, inner city and the alster are within walking distance (max. 20 min walk) or can be reached easily by public transport (S-/U-Bahn, Bus right in front of the hotel). A beautiful park is located on the opposite side of the tracks near the convention center.

Rooms
The rooms are small but comfortable in a decent modern style.
The bathroom modern and it's fun taking a shower while watching over the city (the bathroom offers a great view through a panoramawindow to the room and to the room windows).

Breakfast
Breakfast is offert by buffet. The selection is wide. The quality and taste varies on a wide scale. Especially the warm buffet part (eggs, sausage...) tastes...

Restaurant (same location as the breakfast buffet)
Ambition is premier class cooking. The wine selection is wide.
On the other hand reality. The meals based on convinience products. The service personal is not able to recommend a wine. At least the taste was good.

Service
The front desk staff is absolutely helpfull, patient and outstanding friendly.
They are doing the best to find perfect solutions for their guests
The service personal at the restaurant is untrained and bored. Personal at breakfast buffet is, if present, friendly and helpfull.

Fitness/Wellness
The wellness area is beautiful, relaxing and clean. The fitness area is perfectly equipped.

Over all
Perfect hotel to spend a weekend with your partner.
It's relaxing and a good starting point to explore Hamburg.
And if the weather is poor. Nestle in the cozy bed or spend your day in the sauna.

Hotel is just over 100m from Sternchanze U-Bahn/S-Bahn station.

So that's 2 stops from Hautbahnof via S-Bahn or 4 stops from Rathaus via U-Bahn on U3 line. U3 line is good one to see Hamburg on arrival as it goes along the shore front.

But its 3 trains from Airport (~ 30min). When travelling to Airport make sure you get on the correct carriage at Ohlsdorf, the train splits with front carriages going to airport.

Hotel is a converted water tower, there's the sound of dripping water from speakers in the entrance (large moving floor) up to reception and sound of water in Lobby.

Had a Superior Room, 9th floor of rooms, 4 floors below rooms (lobby, bar/fitness/sauna, restaurant, ...) so room was actually on 13th.

When you look at location of hotel on map it is in a park so you'd expect it to be quiet, but there is actually a lot of road noise at night, have to keep windows closed. Also if it is a nice day people with be hanging out in the park quite late at night some were letting of fireworks. You do not walk through park to get to entrance of hotel - road with footpath from station. Bicycles for hire outside station.

Only problem I had with hotel is the air conditioning, on maximum -3 only seemed to manage to keep room at the current temperature with trickle of cold air. Open windows during day to cool room, then put on air conditioning at night.

On one day could smell sewage in lobby, but in walking around hotel area could also detect the same smell, so think it had been blown into hotel (room service open windows) and was hot day with a bit of a wind.

The bathroom has a window with remotely controlled blind that (kept shut when sharing until room service open it!).

Also speaker for TV in bathroom??? TV had about 3 English speaking news channels, rest German.

Bit annoying that the hotel has extra speakers, remote blind etc, but where it matters, i.e. air conditioning they cut corners.

Breakfast is nice, assuming it's included in your room package.

Restaurant OK, menu listed on the hotel website.
Cave Bar also does simpler meals (+ room service), try the Cave Burger.

Admit not sure if I would recommend this hotel if I had a room facing the sun (too warm) or on a lower floor (noise), but overall very happy with stay.

Staff were polite and helpful.

It you head left out of hotel and follow path, cross road at light then you'll be in Planten Un Blomen (free botanical gardens).

The hotel is in a great location when you want to discover the city and looks really funky but I would not come back because of the following:
- we stayed in the hotel after the air-conditioning had broken down, the hotel smelled terrible of vomit! Of course the air-condition does not break down often but if that is your lucky day, sorry
- the hotel is very loud, i could hear every word of what my neighbors were saying and "doing" at night. Also the hotel is in a park where which nice weather lost if young people hang out and night and you can hear them very well, forget about sleeping with open window
- if you stay as a couple don't go to the bathroom at night as for sure the other person will wake up. The bathroom is build into the room with a window looking into the bedroom. the bed is directly facing that window, so you sleep with your head next to the window, You can only close the window with some blinds. If you switch on the light in the bathroom (which is far to bright and can't be dimmed) the person sleeping next to the window will have the full light directly into their eyes and will be wide awake (even if the blinds are closed - what they don't do properly)
- the breakfast at the hotel is great but with 22 Euros a little bit expensive, we also had lunch and the food was really not up to expectation (salad from a package drained in a very heavy sauce with not so tasty meat)
- forget about connecting to the internet. There's wifi in the public areas but not in the rooms! And if you want to connect to the cable high-speed in the room you have to pay 15 Euros per day. Which hotel still charges for internet?

The hotel is situates in sternchanze, near the train station. There are a lot of restaurant and bars in this quarter.
The hotel is very original and beautiful. The staff is helpful, the check in is quickly.
My room in 8th floor was beautiful and clean. Tv LCD, Minibar, Safe, Internet access (no Wifi) and wanderful views to the TV tower an city center.
Luxury Spa and Amazing breakfast.
