“Good service and location with delicious seafood.”
Reviewed 25 August 2013

We visited this restaurant 1130h Saturday morning and the restaurant was not open officially. However, they welcomed to guide us to the upper floor and recommended us delicious fish plates. My friend ordered some fried fishes dish and I ordered boiled fishes dish. Both very good taste with lightly seasoned and we enjoyed dishes almost 90 minutes with beer and white wine. The white glass wine was also good. It was a weisser burgunder from Germany. The waiter always smiles to us and visited our seat just right frequency. I want to recommend you to visit this restaurant when you visit Hamburg near Fischmarkt.

“Big deception”
Reviewed 20 December 2012 via mobile

The restaurant looks nice, but food and service was bad. Fish was dry, either not fresh and/or grilled to long. Staff tries hard to sell the expensive 2pers. fish platter.

“historically crummy”
Reviewed 14 August 2012

This is a classic fish restaurant, based in a historic building in a prime location on Hamburg’s waterfront. Unfortunately, it seems to trade entirely on this. The other components that go to make up a good restaurant: food, service and atmosphere, are clearly not priorities for the management. The dishes at the bottom end of the menu clearly belong there, as we discovered to our cost: more batter than fish, or fragmentary leftovers combined randomly as ‘pan-fish’, accompanied by fried potatoes that were barely lukewarm, and drowned in mustard sauce. My lemon sole from the mid-range of the menu was nicer, but I almost felt guilty enjoying it when my friends were so unsatisfied by their own choices and the manner in which they were delivered. Two main dishes plus the accompaniments of the third arrived together, followed by a 20-minute wait for the third main dish to appear. Shortly before it did so, our waiter removed the accompanying potatoes which by this time were of course stone-cold. However, she did not replace them until 10 minutes after the main dish had finally been served. Then she forgot about our order for a second round of beers. Clearly, by that time we had been labelled as a ‘problematic table’ for which no further expenditure of effort was worthwhile, with at best a derisory tip expected. The restaurant appears to have been in business since the 1920s. I wonder whether that is because some customers from those days are still waiting for their food to be served. Overall, a thoroughly disappointing experience in a place with such marvelllous potential.

“good fish in hamburg”
Reviewed 31 August 2011

close to the fishmarket in hamburg and easy to reach, the night we went there were many customers. we had good fish (i got a hamburg dish with three quality of fish and my wife got halibut) and good beer. prices are average for fish, that means a little bit more expensive. the only thing i didn't like was the smell of fried fish that seemed to hang all over the place.. but furtunately it didn't stick into our jackets and clothes!
