Description: The Haerlin Restaurant at the Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten (Four Seasons Hotel) is one of the leading gourmet restaurants in Germany and has picked up 1 Michel Star and 17 Gault Millau points. Head Chef Christoph Rüffer creates light dishes based on classic French cuisine, combined with Mediterranean influences. The interior is evocative of the classic era when the hotel was founded by the original owner Haerlin. The exquisite food is served in the palatial dining room with classical music playing in the background and a stunning view of the Inner Alster Lake. The restaurant is available for hire and can cater for up to 90 people. Friendly, courteous service round off the whole experience.

I have eaten at several recognized restaurants but Restaurant Haerlin was in my opinion one of the best dining experiences that I have ever had. It is an experience - from start to finish. The ambiance is serene, elegant and peaceful. The service was the perfect amount of attentiveness but not over bearing. Each course was served with a written and verbal explanation. The food was simply an artistic masterpiece. Every member of the staff was a professional. I rarely get to Hamburg anymore but if I am lucky enough to go back again, I will once again treat myself to this unforgettable restaurant.

Once a year business brings me to Hamburg and I get the chance to dine at this fine restaurant.
Of course it is not cheap but for me it is worth every cent.
Outstanding cuisine, superb service and a jolly atmosphere.
A perfect (and long) night of fine food and wine.

Possibly the most complete eating experience I have ever had, and I've had quite a few. Certainly not cheap but I admire the workmanship. The menu is essentially two fixed menu options, with either 4 or 6 courses each. The setting is traditional but beautiful. Service is very attentive and extremely professional. But the food - complex, certainly. Many ingredients per course but so dainty and pretty. Each course is relatively tiny, but after 6 courses you'll understand why. Proceeded by two amuse-bouche followed by coffee and petit fours. I suggest you take the full 6 courses 155 EUR, plus the selected accompanying wines (100 EUR). The attention to detail - 6 types of salt (try the hibiscus), an array of bread rolls, detailed explanations of the food, ingredients and wines. Luxurious surroundings. You'll feel pampered and content. But beware, I entered at 8 and left at a quarter past one!

I had expected competent food preparation and excellent service from this one-star Michelin restaurant in a major hotel -- but Haerlin surprised me with its superb and satisfying modern food offerings and the amazing "choreography" displayed by its young, attractive staff (think of the "Harmonia Gardens" scene from Hello Dolly! but updated and without the pompous ostentation). I'd travel back to Hamburg just for a repeat experience at this wonderful restaurant. Michelin, this gem deserves at least another star!

Lovely touches throughout the whole meal from the bread box served with different flavoured salts. Every time they served you a course you get a tiny little explanation card of what's in the dish.
Without going through all the courses, they were all excellent just one, which was a miniature cordon blue take on the classic veal cordon bleu, though this was with foie gras and sweetbread not my flavoured dish, all seemed a bit dry and tasteless. The only other fault was a lot of ingredients was repeated through out the meal, a lot of carrot and fruit. Presentation was impressive.
