“A small park with a church and a tower...”
Reviewed 26 September 2013

Not a very interesting site, the small Russian church is really nice, but it was closed when I visited the place. Close to it was a museum (also closed) and the tower, which was open. The entrance fee was 3 euros, it has an elevator for the top, but it is nothing special. You can view Darmstadt from the top, but not much to see in the tower (two small rooms in floors 4 & 5, which you are not allowed to enter)

“'Must see' in Darmstadt”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

Not only the Russian Chapel, but the Jugendstil [Art Deco] houses in this area - all easily to be visited on a short walk - is a MUST SEE in Darmstadt. This is one of the world's (yes indeed) most important places to study Jugendstil [Art deco]. Not to forget the 'Hochzeitsturm' (marriage tower) and the exhibition halls with changing exhibits of art and culture. From the city abt. 15 minutes walk. From 'Mathildenhoehe' to 'Rosenhoehe' (see there for details) just another 10 minutes walk. For sure the most important spot in Darmstadt for any (foreign) tourist. I know what I am talking about - I am living here :)

“Art Nouveau surroundings and exhibitions”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

This is a unique assembly of Art Nouveau exhibits and museums. Probably Darmstadt's main attraction, and mostly with only a modest fee. It contains an actual Russian orthodox chapel, built for the former Czar to allow him to go to church when visiting his relatives, and the wedding tower built to celebrate marriage of the local grand duke - and still in use for weddings on a couple of weekends each year.

“A must-see for all Jugendstil/Art Nouveau fans”
Reviewed 28 May 2013

An amusing heap of edifices not going quite well with one another (to put it mildly), but still an important Jugendstil landmark very much worth visiting, especially the museum.
