There are a lot of apple wine places around Frankfirt, in particular in Sachsenhausen. So Wagner by no means serves the best food or the most delicious apple wine. Yet I keep on coming back. It`s nicely situated on Schweizer Strasse, the Schnitzel and Ox Breat is actually really good and the place got flair, in particular the original part of the restaurant. The toilets are in the old wine cellar, another eyecatcher. It gets really busy at times, they have menus in numerous languages, that tells you something about their customers, so if you come in a larger group, give them a ring.

This place is definitely a tourist trap, but the food is actually pretty good......what lets this place down two stars is the service, which is abrupt verging on rude. Seems to be run by a Eastern gang.....

My primary reason to visit the famous Adolf Wagner restaurant was to sample the apple wine. I needn't have bothered as it tastes quite awful - imagine flat cider and you get the idea. However, the food here more than made up for the disappointing tipple.

I ordered the roast shoulder of pork and it arrived within about 20 minutes. Quite an extraordinary piece of meat - the best German style roast pork I have ever eaten. Without a doubt. Sure the waiters and brusque and unattentive and rushing here and there. But the atmosphere of this place is less about great service and more about great food. If you love pork then you need to pay Wagner's a visit. You will not be disappointed.

This restaurant was recommended by a local. An incredibly busy place, lots of patrons, and it appeared more locals than tourists which was a good sign. If you like meat and lots of it, this is for you. The pork shoulder was more than I could eat. Service was friendly and informal. Bench seating makes for a cozy time with your neighbours. It was a good Apfelwein experience.

What can I say? The waiter was extremely rude. So, much so that a group of Germans sitting at our table even felt the need to apologize to us for his rudeness.Just read the rest of the reviews that tell you how bad the service is, if you need more convincing. You've been warned.
I ordered a roasted pig's knuckle (Schweinshaxe). It was awful. I was just happy that I didn't get sick after eating some of it. The rest I left on my plate.
Visit made on 23 June 2014. The waiter was "P,", according to the bill.
PS. They don't serve beer here and I suppose asking for it must have put the waiter in his bad mood.
