“suited my needs”
Reviewed 17 November 2011

in frankfurt for a weekend for work....so i really only needed a place to sleep....and for the it was perfect. it was clean, quiet, easy......

it was weird that they didn't have any phones in the room and that was an issue any time i needed something to have to go down to the front desk.

i would probably not stay there again......but i didn't hate it.....

It's not that cheap anymore during Messe shows, but it's more or less OK as far as value for money.

Stylist (specially the lobby) for a low cost hotel with a minumum of luxury.

My main complaint is that the main heating is too high throughout the building (this was in March). Even if the room heating is off, it's way too hot to sleep. If you open the window then it's noisy, and you can catch a cold if temperature goes down at night. This has happened to me two years in a row. Fix this! (and will save you some money as well).

Also, lots of water always ends up on the floor when you shower.

A couple important things up front: this hotel asks for payment in full upon check in, and there are no landline telephones in its rooms. The property is about thirty minutes walk from historic Frankfurt's downtown. It is right on a tram line and about eight minutes walk from a U station. The rooms are basic and boxy but the bed was great. TV and desk in the room are quite small. There is wireless in the rooms and breakfast, but both are fee based unless you reserve the "One Welcome" package. I really liked the breakfast a lot and found the WiFi in the rooms to be just fine. For a European hotel, this was inexpensive and basic, and i do recommend it. It was 40 Euros by cab from the airport.

Room Tip: Go high up.

The Motel One in Frankfurt is a good hotel for certain things. If you're looking for a clean, safe hotel and a reasonable price, it's a good spot. The price is good, it's immediately off S-Bahn 11 so easily connectable to the transport network, free wi-fi is available, the rooms are clean and the downstairs bar has reasonably priced drinks. However, it is definitely a minimalist approach. The spaces are small, even by European hotel standards, there are no phones in the rooms and the only toiletry is a single bottle of body wash/shampoo (for a week). However, the staff is polite and helpful and the morning continental breakfast is satisfying if not extensive (bread, cheese, 3-4 types of cold cuts, hard boiled eggs, fruit and yoghurt). The toileties were easily purchased for under 5 euro at a local pharmacy, so hardly worth the expense of a pricier hotel if you're on a budget. An alarm clock and ironing board were rentable from the front desk. There are no lockboxes in the room so I did not leave valuables behind. Also, I don't know if this is an issue of being in a single room, but the duvet on my double bed did not cover the entire bed. It was ok for me (at 5 feet tall), but companions who are taller found it uncomfortable during the night. I believe the hotel would be better for short stays than longer ones, but it's a good hotel as long as your expectations meet with what it offers.

Ok. This hotel seems to be for people who don't need much. The lobby is nice. The rooms are pleasant. However, there's something missing...

1) You will get two towels and a bath mat. The shower is nice, but the water splashes all over the floor. So, if you shower at night, your bath mat will get soaked and will not be dry by the morning.

2) The breakfast buffet is fine.

3) The rooms do NOT have phones. So, if you have an emergency, any time you are in your room, then you are up a creek.

4) You will be issued ONE vial of liquid soap. That's it. No lotion. No facial tissue.

5) There is no closet in the rooms. There is a metal rack, on which you hang your clothes.

6) The flatscreen tv is bolted to the wall and can't be adjusted.

7) There are only two outlets in the room.

8) Not much space for luggage.

9) The duvet on the bed is too small. (Twin-sized duvet on a queen-sized bed.)

10) There is a tram stop in front of the hotel (nice) and the closest subway station is about 5 minutes away (nice).

11) There are a couple of good restaurants in the area. You can walk to them.

12) Free WiFi in the rooms.

really nice hotel. but situation is not so good - 20-30 min from metro station by walk
so if you haven't car or don't want to use taxi everytime, that isn't your choice.
room is small but clean. very good big bad. free wifi
there is a strange thing for me - washbasin in the room close to bed.... and there isn't wardrobe in the room
but for this price everything is ok

Bit of a mixed bag here. We had 10 hours until our flight checked in early the next morn, so thought it was a good idea to stay close and keep it SIMPLE. Good plan, but poor execution: no hot water in the shower had to switch rooms, no food in the hotel& too far to walk to get any, no breakfast either because our shuttle (12 Euros for a couple) left at the same time as the EARLIEST seating, internet connection was slow & difficult ( free in the lobby, 5 Euros in the room),borrow an alarm clock (10 Euros..refundable if any staff is up at 0600h), tiny bathroom with BIG soft towels & a comfy bed. Appears less expensive than it really is. Value for money? not exactly. Functionality? could be better. Service? room for improvement.

Room Tip: ask for a room where everything 'works'
