“Standard hotel with a quaint touch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2012

The quality of this hotel is rock solid German. No extravaganza and no surprises. The location is perfect, especially if you come by car and have shopping on your mind. The local neighborhood reminds me of an American inner city. Open spaces around this free standing new construction. Back street activity, and red light joints, however not at all threatening. From the faces, accents and names of the hotel’s personnel you would expect to be somewhere in the Middle East, an impression that is accentuated by the 1001 nights decor details. In substance, it is like any other independent German hotel, no lack of ham at breakfast. It advertizes itself as a four star, an impression that is true at first sight, but the quality of the bed, bathroom and linen is more three star. If you pay a hiked up special event price, you’d be disappointed. However, with a special weekend rate, it’s a very good deal.

An easy walk from Konstablerwache station, to the main shopping street (Zeil) and the Dom. Nice clean room, though there appeared to be ash in the WC in this non-smoking room. Good bathroom, but no complimentaries. Quite comfortable beds. Small fridge. No tea/coffee making facilities. Breakfast is adequate, but the orange juice and coffee were poor. Free wi-fi but the signal was very weak to non-existent in my room. People outside in the street were a bit noisy during the day (especially the Islamic Centre/mosque opposite), but it was quiet after midnight. The hotel brands itself as 4 star, but it's really 3 star. More or less equivalent to an Ibis, though the rooms are marginally more stylish.

Not a Dream hotel. It is in a little "bad area". A block away it is sex shops. Nice and spacious rooms. The rooms was clean, and also had a safe deposit box. The breakfast was ok. Free Wi-fi in the rooms. Close to the shopping street Zeil. Lots of trash cans in the streets when you walk from Zeil to the hotel. Not a 4 star hotel. The bed had very hard matresses.

Be very careful. This hotel has a hidden 45 day advanced notice cancellation policy or they charge you your credit card for the entire stay. Also, this hotel refused to honor American Express Corporate Travel reservation changes.

When I checked in, I had to wait until the hotel manager arrived before I could get a room. When he arrived he arrogantly said that since my original hotel reservation was changed, I would have to pay for the first reservation in full and then he would honor the change in reservations. I called AMEX and when American Express travel called the hotel, the Manager said that they do not honor AMEX 24 hour cancellation policy. AMEX has already said that they will be fighting this.

This hotel is a total rip off. At most it is a one star hotel. I had mold and paint peeling from leaks in my room and the alleged free wireless Internet only works at an acceptable level in the lobby. Further, after dark, to walk to the hotel, you have to walk past dumpsters and trash cans going one way and if you leave the hotel at night and turn right, will be in a mini red-light district.

Due to this billing issue, I felt like I was a hostage in the Grand Dream hotel. As a businessman, your schedule changes at times and this hotel bills your credit card whatever they feel they can. I totally agree with a 24 to 72 hour cancellation policy, but 45 days or the entire reservation is charged is unheard of. As I said, be very careful. This hotel has a hidden 45 day advanced notice cancellation policy or they charge you your credit card for the entire stay. Also, the hotel refused to honor AMEX reservations, rates, and changes.
Upon being forced to check out, even though I stayed five nights he charged me for eight. AMEX has already said that they will be fighting this. Also, the Manager had what I determined to be hotel security stand by when he presented me with the bill.

I was force out of the Dream Hotel. I felt intimidated, insulted and robbed.

The bottom line is: as a tourist on a fixed trip this hotel might be acceptable. However as a businessman or woman, this hotel is a billing nightmare. As a tourist on a fixed trip this hotel might be acceptable. However as a businessman or woman, this hotel is a billing nightmare.

There is nothing Dreamy about this hotel.I hate paying more and not getting a good value. Instead, we received a poor room with bad design, with poor cleanliness and a poor location overall. The Dream Hotel is not a 4 star hotel by European standards and I'm surprised to see it billed as such. The lobby and reception desk are cluttered with stuff to sell and paperwork. Our reservation took a while to find. We were sent to a small room with twin beds instead of a double room with double bed. Then we were given a small room with a double bed. The room was set up for a single. The extra duvet given to us later looked like it came out of the dirty laundry. The door to the bathroom was a sliding glass door that did not provide privacy. The door and the shower (no tub) needed scrubbing. The decor is very dated with a touch of hideousness. The room was lit by the two bed-side reading lamps, which were very bright and worked together. No option for just one person to have light (unless removing a bulb) and no option for ambient light. We didn't mind the paper thin walls until the vacuuming started in the morning. The establishment is really dreaming if it thinks it is close to a 3 star hotel. We were very disappointed with our choice. There are a lot more hotels in Frankfurt to choose from.

I booked this hotel through HRS Hotel Booking Site during my recent businees travel to Germany. Reasonable tariff comparing the location near Zeil. Rooms & toilets were vary spacious, clean. We got very warm welcome at the reception. Good spread in Breakfast. To our surprise, the hotel was owned by an Indian and we got Indian food like chapati, panneer matar, alu gobi, alu parantha, dahi and so on. Got a decent bar in the lobby. Free Wi-fi and Airport drop ( small charge ) was available.
