“Clean & modern on a budget”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 May 2013

For a budget hotel/hostel, this is a very modern, fresh and clean place. Very friendly staff who are there 24/7. Booked ahead, there was no problem getting a car space (although you need to be good at reversing in tight spaces!).
The only downside we found was the beds - as we've experienced in other German hotels, a "double" room is only two single beds with yourself being responsible to push the two beds together, and use two separate duvets. The problem with this hotel, however, is that the bed base is a slippery wood, so if you try to roll over to be closer to your partner (or of course whatever else you and your partner may do in bed!), the mattresses will slip away from each other and leave you lying on a cold wooden bed. I would think a simple drilled in rail on one side of each bed would provide a solution to this problem.
Not right in the middle of the action - we had a car, but I'm not sure how easy it would be to get around without one.

Stayed in the Meininger hotel for two nights with three friends. We booked a room with a double bed and a double decker. It is so small that we cannot open our own suitcase. Everything is very clean and tidy. The bathroom is perfect. The hotel is located between two tram stops. It is quite convenient for tourists to travel around. In the hotel lobby, there is a pool table. Very nice.

Room Tip: A 4-person room (Rm416) is too small for four people. Actually, I think it is a double room.

We visited the Meininger Hotel to investigate whether or not we should host our delegates there and they exceeded our expectations in many ways:
- They people working there are very friendly and very helpful
- The rooms are clean and comfortable
- The breakfast room is spacious and serves a good breakfast
- They have all the facilities we needed including accees to an alternate kitchen
We will be hosting our event there for sure.

stayed here with my 8 year old for a night. the beds were super comfy. the rooms modern and clean. the bathroom perfect with respect to high pressure shower and very bright for shaving. breakfast buffet had a large variety of options including really nice breads and jams. you are right next to the metro and only two stops from the center. staff are extremely helpful and super friendly. Lots of simple dining near you and plenty of fine dining too. try the Japanese restaurant down the street. really good food for a cheap price.

An absolute no nonsense hotel.... it advertises hotel for the urban traveller and that is is exactly what it is. the place is modern, neat and clean... considering the other places i stayed in europe, this place was real value for money. it is located one stop away from the closest tram stop and then you have to take the train to reach messe station and from there is bit of a walk till the hotel so not the easiest to get to but not that much of a trouble either.. will definitely stay here again.

Getting there may be a bit difficult as there is a lot of construction going on in that area, so best use GPS. Parking is limited directly at the hotel, but I was lucky. Public transport is right there and you can walk to the S-Bahn within 5 min. and from there just go 2-3 stops and you are right in the center. So it is a great location and even though trains go by and there are plenty construction sites, it was quiet in the room. Service is great - the welcome was super nice, the night shift front desk guy was great and attentive, and check-out within seconds done with a friendly smile. Price was good and even at the hotel bar I was surprised that a glass of wine was only 3,50 and since the waiter could not recommend any wine, he did let me try first. The bar is small but cosy and with a pool table and open 24h. So all in all a great spot and bargain and I would definitely chose this place again if I'm in town.

Room Tip: I had a double for single occupancy and the beds are super narrow. You can move them together, but i...
