We travel to Germany several times a year since 1990. We just returned from our last dinner in On vacation and it was the BEST yet! Great Jäger Schnitzel (thin breaded cutlets with mushrooms and gravy), spätzle (between a noodle and a dumpling), salads and beer! No frills just great food & drink, reasonable costs and beyond excellent service! They accommodated us with menus in English and even called us a cab at the end of our meal. If you want real German food this is it. NO tiny overly gourmet portions that leave you hungry & broke! Highly Recommend!

Given it’s listed as the best restaurant in the I had expected more. I had the “house” which was totally dull and not made with much love or imagination. Menu was pretty much identical to the two other restaurants on either side - hard to see why this one has the better rating.

From the centre of Frankfurt, it takes 30-40 minutes by public transport to get here. However, it is a really nice traditional restaurant. Vegetarians have the käsespätzle, it’s the best in that city. We also tried the apple flammkucken which was surprisingly good too!

Staff are friendly and have menus in English and 中文 as well as German.

If you love pork meat you must have the Schweine Hackse, excellent prepared and goes down well with a local brew! Price / quality is very good and would recommend to anyone else who is visiting Frankfurt. With seating areas in the medieval court or at the river a beautiful spot in the summer as well.
