“Jeff Koons' sculpture”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2012

We visited the Liebieghaus as part of the Jeff Koons exhibition. I thought it was interesting how they juxtaposed his very modern art with early Greek, Egyptian and European sculpture. The museum by itself was interesting and worth a visit without Koons' work. There is also a very nice outdoor cafe with excellent cakes.

“One of the most charming museums in Frankfurt”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2012

This is definitely my favourite museum in Frankfurt. It's not as crowded as the bigger ones, like the Staedel, the Schirn or the Museum of Modern Art. The presentation of artwork (lots of sculptures) is wonderful, with great lighting and wall colours that complement the art. Also, having a coffee in the courtyard is wonderful on a nice warm day.

“Very nice!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2012

As we arrived to the Liebieghaus, the person at the front desk politely explained that right now some parts of the museum are undergoing construction, there wasn't as much to see and therefore the ticked price went down from regular 7 to 5 Euro. I was still not sure why he said "there wasn't as much to see" since the Museum had one of the most impressive sculpture collections I've ever seen! You begin with looking at some Egyptian Art, followed by Greek and Roman sculptures, followed by Oriental Art downstairs, and then sculptures in a separate building (what used to be an actual residential house) right next to the main entrance. I could have spent hours there! Most pieces are original (unless states that they are replicas, but I didn't see very many of those). Some information is in English, which was also nice. There's a good looking restaurant/cafe right in between the two buildings. It looked like a popular local hang out spot for the older crowd.

“A little boring”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 April 2012

I thought from ads that the rooms would be like original but it is just a museum.

It is a great collection, and presented in a very private, homey context! Don't miss out on the "Schaudepot"...the artefacts are great. My friend and I were really impressed! Also the Niclaus Gerhaert exhibition was wonderful! Great value for price! THANK YOU!!!
