“Nice and new”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 November 2012

This is a very good hotel. Everything is new and well laid out. Reception staff are friendly. The restaurant has a good selection for the evening and a good breakfast in the morning.

My only, slight, complaint is the size of the beds. The rooms are large and the beds could have been bigger.

I cannot comment on the surroundings as I only used the hotel as a place to sleep after working in a local office. I would say that apart from a little noise from the ajoining room all was quiet.

Going in, wasn't sure what a "sports academy" would provide. Room was spacious and comfortable.

Nice, new hotel, in the forest. Rooms are nice, personnel in friendly and the restaurant has several choices of good quality.
Systems are poor. Checking out , even if there are no other customers, is along porcess, so plan for it ahead of time !

Stayed here during a recent business trip to Frankfurt with colleagues.

Overall, I was very happy with the hotel, although as pointed out by other reviewers, it does have some disadvantages over other hotel options in the city.

Positives:
* New building - clean and welcoming

* Clean and modern rooms

* Very friendly and helpful staff

* Reasonably quiet, given the fairly close proximity of Frankfurt airport

* Easy access from airport on nearby S-bahn lines (S8 or S9)

* Good breakfast selection and enjoyable (if limited) restaurant menu in the evening

* Shuttle bus to the airport from the hotel (great service and friendly driver)

Negatives:
* Hotel is located in an isolated wood - when I stepped off the S-bahn at the Stadion stop, I didn't see any signs for the hotel and had to test my basic German on a very helpful passing local. In his own words - "ah yes, the Lindner hotel - go through the woods for 3/4 of a mile and turn left! After that head for the stadium." Luckily for me, I arrived early afternoon so it was still light and although a little bemused, I had no qualms about wandering through the wood. Eventually reached the hotel just over 10 minutes later. If you're arriving after dark, I would recommend sticking to the road by the side of the railway line (where there are street lights) rather than the wood and walking up towards the Stadium by a more indirect route.

* WiFi - charged at 9.95 Euro per day. Most of the other hotels that I've stayed in lately have offered this for free.

* No nearby shops, restaurants or amenities (unless there's a football match on when you can get a hot-dog!). If you don't have a car, you can use the S-bahn, but once again if you return late at night there's the woods to contend with (Mad Axeman anyone?)

* Parking - one of my colleagues hired a car and grumbled about paying 12 Euro per day for the multi-storey parking at the hotel. 2 of her customers parked on the roadside outside for free.

* Restaurant menu choice is a little limited (although the food is very good)

All in all, a good choice, just remember that there are no nearby amenities unless you're willing to drive or travel back into Frankfurt.

The hotel is situated in what was once a forest, halfway between the city center and the airport, in the immediate vicinity of the stadium. It is a new building and the architect did his best to use the limited space he was allocated for the rooms : open bathroom but with a separated toilet. The wardrobe is attached to the wall which leaves under it enough space to put the luggage. There is a small fridge and a rather big safe. For two persons, the space offered in the wardrobe is rather small.
The positive points are the friendly and helpful staff, the rooms are very clean and no negative remark can be made about the room service.
On the other hand, the hotel is located in an area where there are no shops, restaurants or theatres in the vicinity. For the public transport a "S-Bahn" (city train) you need to walk about 15' through the woods and only part of the track is illuminated.
Although the hotel is situated in a green vicinity, you always hear noises : from the landing planes, from the trains, from the motorway... As the hotel is newly built, the inner walls are made of some cardboard which has the effect that you not only hear your neighbors but you can literally feel the vibrations each time someone closes a door.
The room is very small, too small for two persons. There is only one chair in the room (there is not enough space to put in a second one). I could not figure out how to diminish the heating and leaving the window open did not alleviate much the feeling that there was not enough oxygen in the room.
The only wellness the hotel has to offer is a walk in the woods : no swimming pool, no sauna.
The price charged for the wifi is rather high, free wifi should be standard.
The sofas in the bar are "design" meaning that it is impossible to sit comfortably.
I have stayed in other Lindner hotels and was always charmed by the value for money which was offered. The Lindner Hotel & Sports Academy is clearly an exception to that general positive assessment of Lindner Hotels. I would certainly not recommend the Lindner Hotel & Sports Academy for a longer stay.

The hotel is brand new and therefore it is very clean and in good shape. I stayed there once and I will stay there again. However, there are a couple of issues: 1) The location is very inconvenient if you don't have a car. There is a subway (S-Bahn) stop "Frankfurt Stadion" but from there you walk 10-15 minutes to the hotel on a dimly lit road through what appears to be a forest. Not for the faint of heart and the hotel is not really easy to find. 2) Make sure not to pay more than €100 for a room. Shop around, there are always deals to be had. It sells for as little as €45 per night. 3) If you have a car, don't use hotel parking. They charge €10 per night. You can park on the street not far for free. 4) Really annoying: The hotel charges €10 per day for internet access in the room. This is just no longer acceptable.
