Bristol Hotel Frankfurt
Ranked #60 of 270 Hotels in Frankfurt
Reviewed 6 October 2009

My wife and I stayed in the Bristol for three nights in October 2009. The hotel was very convenient to the main railway station being just a short walk with no need for a taxi. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the rooms were very clean and well equipped.

The self service breakfast was A1 and genuinely hard to beat, No matter how crowded the dining room was there was plenty of everything available with no waiting. There is also a lovely Italian restaurant across the road called Panino which is pleasant and non smoking, and serves food up to midnight.

The downside with the Bristol is the smoking. They permit smoking in the 24 hour bar and it pervades the whole ground floor of the hotel. If you are a smoker its great but if you are not ...........! Luckily the Panino across the road was so pleasant.

Just back from the Bristol in Frankfurt and can honestly say its one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in. The location is great, right in the city centre, close to the train station, and shopping precincts, bars etc.

The hotel was lovely. It was tastefully decorated and the staff were very nice and accommodating. One of the male reception staff took time to show us places of interest, restaurants and shopping on the map.

Breakfast was lovely. Lots of choice for everyone, plenty of hot food and quickly replenished. Coffee was topped up constantly by waiting staff.

On arrival, we were expecting a small room, as we'd paid for an economy double. However, when we went up to the room, we had been given a corner room which was a great size - Room 306 (I think if you ask for a corner room when you book it is definatley the largest). It was clean, bright and decorated nicely. The bathroom was small, but that wasn't a problem. We did happen to look into the room next door when we were leaving and it was very small. I think we were very lucky.

The surrounding area isn't the nicest and I felt a bit intimidated at times and was rather wary of some characters who were hanging around. The only thing I would say about the hotel is the noise. It is horrendous. The guests themselves were quiet, but the street surrounding the hotel was extremely noisy and it seemed to travel up to the rooms. Luckily, I had read this in previous reports and so had taken some earplugs with me - I slept great! The other thing is the heat. We were there from 24th Sept to the 26th Sept, and although it wasn't particularly hot outside, the hotel itself was very warm (we had to sleep with the windows open, hence the noise from the street). The room had a fan in it though, so it was fine - I'd expect it would very uncomfortable in the height of summer.

The only other negative I could find with the hotel, was the bar prices - VERY expensive, but the whole of Frankfurt was the same. Slightly less expensive are some of the little restaurants surrounding the hotel, were we ate pizza and pasta for 5 euros and beer was about 2 euros. However, if drinking in the hotel bar, expect to pay about 4.50!!

All in all, If going back to Frankfurt, I would definately go back to the Bristol.

This hotel was very clean, and modern. We waiting at the airport for a shuttle they had, which took a long time but once it came we were at the hotel in no time. The staff was very nice and the enterance was very clean. The rooms had dark wood furniture and it was modern looking. Nothing was around this hotel not even a place to eat breakfast so if your staying to catch a flight I would stay here but if your staying for sightseeing don't stay here.

I would stay there again.

I have stayed at the Bristol three times. If you get a good deal it can be outstanding value, compared to some chain hotels. I prefer it to the nearby Pure which I have also stayed in a few times. Service is good and the breakfast is excellent. Only problem is the lack of air con.

Very stylish trendy hotel, clean, really excellent customer service and the breakfast is one of the best selections Ive seen. Ive stayed in quite a few hotels in Germany and this is one of the best, for the price I paid its unbelievable value.

Free Wifi and if youve left your computer at home, free internet terminals in reception.

Fantastic would recommend to anyone.

The hotel is close to the train station and about 15 - 20 minutes walk from the center of the town, which makes it perfect if you need to be close to both. The rooms are small, very clean, the only drawback is the lack of air conditioning. There is a fan in the room, but not enough for the august heat. Bathrooms are small too, but I don't think you need more in a hotel.
The breakfast was great, with cold and hot dishes, fruits, cereals. There is a garden terrace in the back of the hotel, very nice and cosy, the perfect place for an evening drink in a very lovely ambiance.
A big plus for the front desk - all the people there were very nice and always helpful.

First of all. I have to say that this is not a 4 star hotel.
Right from the beginning I had problems.
Staff was unfriendly.
Unwelcoming. And rude!
Room was nice and clean and bathroom was really nice but it really didn't matter because you couldn't sleep because of the heat. There were no air conditioning and you couldn't keep the window open because of the noices in the street. (it wasn't just a quiet street).
Area is bad. Not red light district but lots of immigrants, drug dealers, drug addicts. They didn't cause any problems to me but it's not nice either.
I've been around and i've got better service and rooms in hostels. Never has a 4 star hotel experience been this bad.
