“Perfectly fine hotel in a convenient location in Frankfurt”
Reviewed 5 August 2012

Our family used Frankfurt as our base for our travels in Germany and Central and Eastern Europe and found the location of this hotel quite convenient. It is not the most pretty location in Frankfurt, but I found the location handy for most of our needs.

On the couple of occasions we stayed at this hotel, as an SPG Plat, we were upgraded. I think we were upgraded to rooms in the older section of the hotel (which appears to have been fully renovated). The rooms were clean with high ceilings, comfortable and very quiet. I have no complaints about the rooms. One room was more a "suite", while the other was a much more open concept "suite". I preferred the latter.

As an SPG Plat, you can select breakfast as your benefit, which was quite good at this hotel. The voucher states "continental breakfast" but the staff simply advised us that we are entitled to the full buffet.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The gym was small with limited equipment, but I never saw another guest using the gym while I was there.

I also found a very nearby coin laundry - which was handy. Simply exit the hotel, turn right and turn right again when you hit the tram lines, walk the first block down past the kebob stores and then turn right again at the first traffic light. Probably a 5 minute walk away. Very handy for a month long family trip.

Dear guest “jjkathome”, I would like to thank you for taking the time writing your positive experience onto this platform. Indeed we are more than happy to offer an upgraded free continental breakfast to all of our most loyal guests as part of the SPG Platinum benefits. The coin laundry you are talking about is called Wash World and is located in Moselstrasse 17. We are looking forward to welcome you again and honor your loyalty to Starwood. Kind regards, Wolfgang Selinger – Resident Manager

This quite big hotel located in walking distance to the Central train station is under renovation right now. No outside terrasse and indeed no restaurant. Breakfirst and meals are served in an adapted conference room. Nothing serious about this but an information beforehand would be appreciated. Its an old charme hotel means it is aged and all rooms would need a refurnishment as well. Nothing but nothing special about it - I think it is a classical choice during one of the many fairs taking place in Frankfurt were you just nee 'a' room.

Dear guest “Halimbalo”, thank you for sharing your feedback on Tripadvisor and taking the time writing your opinion. Our restaurant Le Parc is back open as well as the terrace. We had a renovation going on which unfortunately had to be done with short notice for a couple of days. All rooms within the hotel have been refurbished recently but with a different style and decor. Please do not hesitate to contact us to find the room decor suits you best for your next stay in Frankfurt. Best regards, Wolfgang Selinger - Resident Manager

While the hotel is tucked away in one of the side streets in Frankfurt, this Meridien is so close to the Frankfurt train station, it only involves crossing the main avenue in front of the station. The SPG hotel room that they provided to us was of good size and larger than most other Meridien hotels in Europe. The hotel caters primarily to business clients, which makes its service excellent and efficient. The front desk receptionists were very friendly and accommodating.

Room Tip: The A/C, like most of the European hotels that we stayed at was quite weak, so we had to open a wind...

Paid $350 per night w/o breakfast. It's in bad part of Frankfurt, couple blocks away from the main train station, and "red" light district. Elevators are slow and VERY narrow! I am about 5'4" 120 lbs and I had to go in the elevator doors side way w/my carry-on...

Although, the rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. I WOULD NOT stay here again... You are better off staying at the Westin which is a much better location and closer to Romerburg.

I stayed here for 3 days during my eruope trip and throughout my whole trip this hotel had the best customer service i encountered. Everyone from the doormen to the front desk to the housekeepers everyone was super helpful. and if one person did not know the answer they would find someone that did and would wait until you had everything you need.

It's close to the train station which is great and there is a small little downtown area behind the hotel that has great resturants as well

If I ever return to Frankfurt this is where I will stay!

A word of caution here.....should you be travelling ALONE then make absolutely certain that you are NOT allocated one of the single rooms in the old part of the hotel. These were probably the old servants' quarters but I think it is unlikely that anyone - other than perhaps a small child! - would feel comfortable and at home in these rooms. The shower is challengingly small and features a 'body hugging' plastic shower curtain which - in my experience as a Starwood Gold Member - is totally out of keeping with the quality and standards usually associated with Le Merdien or other hotels in the Starwood group. Having a shower with even a trickle of water results in the tiny bathroom being flooded, including the floor, toilet paper, tissues and some of the towels! But don't let that put you off......the service is second to none, the rooms and hotel are extremely clean......there is almost a nostalgic air to the ambience of the hotel......perhaps what the gentlemen and lady travellers of days gone by would have been privvy to enjoy. Without mentioning names I must indeed single out one of restaurant team who could not possibly have been more helpful and polite and added to this, he knew me by name after only 2 mornings! The location is pretty good too, tucked away just around the corner - but out of earshot! - from the main station and just a leisurely 20 minute or so walk from the main shopping area.

Room Tip: Just read my review please!

I am an australian currently living in bilbao a friend of mine (who lives in london) and i decided to meet in frankfurt for a weekend to catch up and experience frankfurt. We got a mystery deal off of a website (i cant remember) and recieved the meridien as our hotel. We arrived friday night during half time of the german football game agianst greece and outside the hotel there were big tvs and a bar with people watching the game we rushed in as we inteded to watch the last half and were greeted so politely and professionally by the man at the desk, he was very obliging to speed up the check in as he knew we wanted to join the poeple outside, he even upgraded us. Not once during our stay did we ever feel like or get treated like the guests 'who got the cheap mystery deal' and that was so comforting and professional. Staff were so helpful and spoke great english the rooms were immaculate and quite spacious and the beds were extremely comfortable. The frankfurt station is literaly a 2min walk away - if that and about a 15min walk to the city center. I could not think of anything bad to say and for somone who works in a hotel myself i was most inpressed :)
