“Nice and comfortable hotel in city centre”
Reviewed 29 March 2011

It is a good standard hotel in good location. You should not have problem finding it as there are clear direction to the hotel from the main station.
The breakfast is of a good quality. I did enjoy it despite it being a bit pricey...

Would definitely stay again...

The Best Western Plaza is not really a plaza, but more of a standard 3-star hotel in downtown Frankfurt. Even with it's central location, it can be tricky to find it, considering that it's tucked away on a small side street, surrounded by a maze of one-way streets. Like most other middle-class hotels in Frankfurt, the building is small and spaces are cramped. But it is well maintained and has an elegant touch in every corner.

POSITIVE ASPECTS
City explorers will appreciate the central location, within walking distance to the central station, to several downtown sights and to the river Main. Being located on a side street makes it relatively quiet at night. The rooms are simple, but clean. The beds are comfortable enough for a few nights and the bathroom has the usual amenities. Some rooms facing the street come with a large balcony.

NEGATIVE ASPECTS
The building, and everything in it, is small. Very small. People who are sensitive to claustrophobia should avoid staying here (this goes for most of the middle-class hotels in Frankfurt). Arriving by car is a complicated task, because of the many one-way streets in the area. Parking spaces are limited.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT
The tram stop "Baseler Platz" is located around the corner, with tram lines going in various directions. The central station is 10 minutes away on foot; with connections to all corners of the city aswell as the airport.

CONCLUSION
The hotel is a great budget alternative, without cutting down on comfort and cleaniness. It is recommended for city explorers and overnight stays, ideally reached on foot. It is not recommended for larger tourist groups.

I stayed four nights here. Decided on it because the conference I was attending was at a very expensive venue.

The Plaza hotel is around 8 mins from Frankfurt Main station in a quiet street close to the river. It's a bit of a trot to the main City centre and Old town, but you can walk the river to reach both which is pleasant.

My stay was nothing special, staff barely acknowledged my existence and the 1st room smelled of smoke, so I relocated to another. It was a single so compact, but clean and simply decorated, with most things you need.

Breakfast room is modern and clean too, but there wasn't a massive choice and again, I was only given one 'good morning' and felt a bit left out.

Not one of my favourite Best Western's I'm afraid.

Ok this is my first time writing a review here. I have often used this site to check out places before I went on a trip and its served me well so I said its time to give something back that may help someone else make a good decision.

Ok I try and beak into sections so as to make it as useful as I can:

1. Purpose

A weekend break with the brother so a pretty chilled one.

2. Arrival

I got the flight from Kerry Airport via Ryanair and flew into Frankfurt Hann. Immediately on entering the airport from arrivals we were met with a Bus Desk where we bought tickets for the Shuttle Bus to Frankfurt Main - the english spoken was very good and the lady behind the desk very helpful. The ticket cost just 12Euros - which considering its nearly a 2hr drive is very reasonable.

We proceeded to the front of the airport where we were told by the lady as the next bus was departing in 4mins. Oh by the way when you see a departure time in Frankfurt heed it, there is no margin for error departure is departure and not a min later. Once started there is only 1 stop before reaching Frankfurt Main and thats at the main Airport to pickup/ dropoff people. The last stop gets you approx 5mins from the hotel.

Oh and also on the return journey the ticket is paid on the bus so just remember where you got off because that is your pickup point - departure/ arrival times can be got from the hotel front desk.

3. Location

If your main reason to go to Frankfurt is to relax hit a few bars and restuarants then its location is ideal. The livelier side, the main niteclubs etc, I was told would take a train ride from that location. But there were still plenty of bars to satisfy your thirst. In very close proximity to the hotel is several shops where you can stock up on water, mineral, crisps etc.

4. Hotel Staff:

I can not say enough about how helpful the staff were during my stay any question, whether it was in relation to bus times - which they kindly printed off for me. Availing of the hotel complimentary toothbrush/ shaving pack. Looking for a power adaptor - as the brother had taken off with mine. As well as the wireless internet provided by the hotel via the password provided in the reception.

Both check-in and check-out were very fast with no trouble or hassle. I booked via Roomex.com so had already prepaid.

5. The Room.

The room was plenty spacious and with a really nice size ensuite. In respect of heating - was never overly hot or cold so can not complain there. When you were board you could flick through the available Tv channels - of which MTV and CNN where a apart of. There is an inroom safe which is provided as part of the room no extra charge.

Overall I really enjoyed my stay there and if I was to return then I would most definitely re-use this hotel for the purpose.

Hope this helps ye guys/ gals out.

This location is great if you know how to turn into the smaller street. Look for "Baseler Platz". It is actually close to tram stop 35 & 46 if you don't want to walk at all. It even in nice walking to old town hall area. The room was small like any typical European hotel. My room has a balcony facing the street which was not noisy at all. It was actually very nice to step out in balcony early morning and in the evening to relax and enjoy the fresh air outside.

Bathroom & bed was clean and comfortable. I had special pre-paid deal of 32 euro per night which was excellent value for the hotel. The rate can vary a lot. I later check for one night stay was 109 euro. Great place if you can get my special deal. Still decent even at its more expensive rate because it was indeed very good location.

There is only one staff at reception area, so you need to be patient to wait for your turn ;-) But the staff was very helpful. Nice good WIFI service. Very easy to connect and work fairly well.

This hotel was a good find in Frankfurt. It was about a 5 minute walk from the main trainstation, and when you have a lot of luggage, this is a great blessing! FYI, the main city train station is only about a 15 minute ride from the airport. The ticketing was relatively easy to figure out and cost 7.80 Euros RT. The hotel is about a 15-20 minute walk to most of the city center sites, very easy to get to and find. The hotel room was very clean and it was very inexpensive at around 45 Euros per night. The room was large by European standards (at least what we have experienced in Italy, Portugal, and Switz.) We got a double room with a bathroom. The bathroom was really large compared to most european rooms as well. The beds were comfortable and sheet very clean. There was a new flat screen TV with cable TV. There is an elevator in the hotel which was nice since we stayed on the 4th floor. They have a computer in the lobby for free internet browsing. Breakfast was not included and for us it was prohibitively expensive at 14 Euros. I dont know if that was for both of us or each, but still expensive as they are many bakeries in the train station and metros that have delicious sandwiches and pastries for 1-3 Euros. I would definately recommend this hotel to those looking for an inexpensive place to stay that is close to the main train station and the city sites.
