“Excellent Value, Modern and Clean”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hamburger Hof Hotel and would definitely recommend it to other travellers seeking a quiet hotel close to the main Frankfurt train station. The rooms are small but stylish, immaculately clean and very well priced. It was quite hot in Frankfurt so the air conditioning was appreciated.

It is not a large hotel which we really liked. It has a small foyer/lobby, small bar and a breakfast dining area, all smartly decorated. Breakfast is excellent and the reception staff very helpful.

We arrived from Singapore very early in the morning and caught the train to Frankfurt HBF. If you exit at the far end of the platforms (not the main exit), the hotel is diagonally across the road. We were very surprised that we couldn’t hear any noise from the station at night.

The city is very walkable and we didn’t use taxis or public transport at all, instead we just walked to the Old Town and along the river. The underground is across the road in front of the station and so is a large tram stop if you wish to use public transport. Kaiserstrasse (the other side of the tram stop) has lots of convenient restaurants and bars.

Stayed here for three nights. Right across the street from the main train station. Airport is only a 15 minute ride by train. Based on other TA reviews we requested a quieter room in the back to minimize noise from train station. No noise issues and matresses were nice and firm. Short walk to many Frankfurt sites such as Kaiserstrasse, the "Saxon" side of the river and shopping district.

Large and bountiful self-serve breakfast with a variety of food items.

Room Tip: As indicated above ask for a room away from street that faces the railway station.

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights before joining a bus tour. We arrived very early in the morning and very tired - the reception staff went out of their way to get us settled in a quiet room so as we could have a sleep. Next day they transferred us to a room with a small balcony and plenty of space. We were able walk everywhere and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend this hotel. Breakfast staff were also very accommodating. Did not see any dirt in the lift or anywhere else!

I stayed here on my way back to Melbourne.the hotel was nice and the staff very helpful but behind the scenes cleanliness was not as it should be.The lifts were very dirty and the dust in the doorways had been there for a while.Just laziness.all corners of a hotel should be clean.

Room Tip: A room with a view at the front is a godd idea.

This is an unassuming but comfortable hotel extremely well situated for overnight stays between trains, or between trains and the airport. In our case, we took a taxi (having lots of luggage) from Frankfurt airport, costing about 25 euro, and then took a first class IC to Bonn the next morning. Smooth as silk; the hotel is practically across the road from a side entrance to the Hauptbahnhof. If you get off a train, go to the front of the station, leave via the left side entrance, and bam!, you're there.

The area is a little sketchy by German standards, though reasonably safe. The Main river is within easy walking distance, though frankly, it's not much to look at and there are no good restaurants or watering-holes nearby until you reach the reconstructed old town. Towards the Alt Oper area there are some good restaurants, but we contented ourselves with the Panino, a two-minute walk from the hotel. Many of the other local restaurants look like excellent places to start a fight, should you be so inclined and wish to rock creative third-world moves.

Reception is friendly, and for those ohne Deutsch, multilingual. Good directions and hints are to be had. The rooms are compact and functional, without frills such as in-room coffee. However, they have air conditioning, which can be really valuable during the summer. (Pro tip: You need to close the windows before it will work, and it may need some thinkin' time before it kicks in.) The bathrooms are tiny but nicely equipped. The elevator is about the size of a telephone booth yet at least it exists. Internet is free but requires registration. The included breakfast is average for Germany, which is to say, excellent by most standards. I deplore the lack of smoked salmon, but hey, not the Four Seasons. Recommended.

Room Tip: The higher the better.

I stayed here for 2 nights with my son. It seemed to be one of the few hotels in Frankfurt in a central location which offered a room with twin beds!
The hotel is in a great location just next to the main railway station which was handy for getting around....and finding your way back again!
The room was nicely decorated and some welcome sweets were on the bed on arrival... A nice touch. There was a well stocked mini bar/ fridge in the room. The only thing missing were tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
Free wifi everywhere in the hotel was another bonus.
The bathroom was lovely and modern... Very clean too as was the bedroom and the whole hotel. A breakfast buffet was included in the room rate and there was a good choice of everything.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
On our last morning we asked if we could have a late check out and we stayed til 2pm at no extra cost.
Overall a great hotel and should I return to Frankfurt I will stay here again!

Thanks to Trip Advisor reviews we chose to stay at Hamburger Hof hotel in Frankfurt and we were not disappointed. the hotel is about a block and a half from the train station and within walking distance from many restaurants and some shopping. Although from the outside the hotel looks a little older, the inside is modern and updated. The room was small (typical in Germany) but super clean and very well appointed. Our room opened on to the main street so it was a little noisy in the evening but the noise didn't keep us from sleeping well that night. The beds were comfortable and the shower was great. The breakfast had a wide range of foods to choose from and even had some fresh fruit. All of the employees were very accommodating and helpful (esp. Marie Christine at the front desk). Overall, we had a great experience here and if we are ever in Frankfurt again, we will definitely stay at the Hamburger Hof hotel again.

Room Tip: If you are sensitive to noise you might want to ask for a room that is in the back side of the hotel...
