IntercityHotel Frankfurt Airport

It was the second time my husband and I spent our one- day-stopover on our long trip from Australia to Italy in this wonderful hotel. We always book an Early Check in which costs a further 30 Euro, but it's worthwhile. We arrived at around 6.30 am in Frankfurt and when we reached the hotel we got our room immediately. There is a shuttle service at the airport at Terminal 1 Exit A1 and C8, arrival level, picking up the guests every 30 minutes and bringing them to the Hotel. I prefer to go to C8, which is the first place, where the bus stops. My husband needs the Internet and he had never problems to keep in touch with his customers in Australia. The people of the hotel are very kind. They all speak English. The breakfast is superb! Every visitor receives a free one-day travel card for the public transport to Frankfurt. The shuttle bus brings you to the airport, there you use the train and in less than 15 minutes you are in the middle of Frankfurt. I really love this hotel ... therefore excuse my enthusiasm. In Frankfurt I can recommend two things: the Staedelsches Kunstinstitut is a must for every art-lover and lovers of good food go to the Italian restaurant: Ristorante Garibaldi, Kleine Hochstr. 4 ! I read some awful remarks about this restaurant on the internet and I don't understand them. The food was excellent, the people were very friendly ... We spent afterwards two weeks in Italy. There were only two restaurants in Naples/Bari which had a chance to compete with this German Italian restaurant!

Check-in was fast, as I had a pre-paid room on their hotel website. Good beer and pizza in their pub. Room small but very clean. The first shuttle left at 5am, bought token and reserved shuttle time when I checked in. (5 euro token but no charge from airport to hotel) There is computer in lobby for guest use.

Actually we had to stay at this hotel, as a guest of Lufthansa, due to the delay of the first leg of our flight to Paris. From the technological point of view, like everywhere in Germany, the fittings are perfect, no problem of any leakage nor any lightening, hotel clean and simple.
What make me review this hotel is the fabulous breakfast and dinner buffet. If one day, you may need to stay at Frankfurt Aeroport, don't hesitate to go to this hotel and taste plenty of specialities as much as you can.

First of all...my date of stay wasn't an option on the dropdown menu so I did not actually stay in May 2010. It was more like April 2005. But anyway...

My best friend and I decided to travel to Germany during one of our milestone birthday years, and we decided to do it on our own, not part of any tour or group or anything. This hotel, as other reviewers have mentioned, is very conveniently located near Frankfurt Airport with a complimentary shuttle bus about every half hour. This worked to our advantage because the airport is also one of the main train stations, so we made use of the shuttle almost every other day of our two-week stay, went to the train station portion of the airport and bought tickets to wherever we felt like going on the ICE.

The second convenience, which I hope is still there, was the pub. For two American tourists on a budget, the pub had the best "appetizer-type" food, and most things were foods that we were used to, and some GREAT beer, all at reasonable prices. We probably spent every evening there chatting with the bartender and some friends we met who were stationed at the US Air Force Base across the street.

Because of the location near the airport, the convenient shuttle service door-to-door, and the friendly atmosphere in the pub, we felt as two young females traveling by ourselves that it was a very safe place to stay. It is technically an airport hotel so there's not going to be too much along the lines of leisure (i.e. no pool, at least not when we stayed), but the convenience of traveling back to the airport to catch a train to anywhere made up for that.

One drawback - Internet was NOT free. Keep in mind this was 6 years ago so with the evolution of WiFi, 4G phones, more people staying connected, etc. this may have changed.

One thing we learned, when traveling across many time zones, make sure you plan your arrival somewhat close to "normal" check-in time wherever you stay. We hadn't thought of that and ended up getting in really early so our room was not ready yet. However, the hotel staff made us feel comfortable in the lobby and did their best to have our room ready before actual check-in time which was very nice of them, considering we had hardly slept on our overnight flight from the East Coast.

Room Tip: I've always liked booking thru Travelocity.

Not knowing where we were to rest out heads when our flight was delayed arriving and our consequent one left with out us the airline booked this hotel. the shuttle bus that picks up and delivers every 30 mins and takes about 10-15 mins brought us here. it took a while to check in but all went smoothly and despite it being 2330 they still supplied food although in reality it was probably past its best . It is a bit like staying in a 6th form common room and has that smell about it The room was clean functional and warm and even had a kettle and cups and I can not complain about any aspect of the room The more communal areas how ever were more like the 6th form common room and had an air of being less clean. The room numbers are not that clear and some of the signposting could be clearer. The fact that the shuttle bus (which for those not there curteousy of the airlines there is a cost) is very very popular and make sure you get their early as our first choice went with out us as it was too full

Good location near the airport, accessible easily with the airport shuttle bus. Double room even when traveling alone, very comfy in general. Dinner and breakfast buffets were super good! Reception staff could be friendlier, but overall a very pleasant experience.

Convenience to the airport/shuttle bus service was the appeal. Clean enough room, HOWEVER, the room was made up as a single, despite double occupancy reservation. Arrived at midnight, and it took one full hour to receive the additional pillow/quilt/set of towels. Originally the quilt ONLY was delivered while we were at dinner in the Pub (restaurant closed), and we could not wait any longer for dinner/Pub closing. Were told by front desk that pillows were delivered. No......pillows followed 20-30 minutes after our 2nd or 34d call (at 1:00 AM!). Still no towels, and we walked to the front desk and procured them ourselves. No apologies for missing items/long wait at this hour. Hotel was absolutely quiet; no apparent reason for the lack of response. The next morning, post-breakfast, we found no electricity to the room. A call to housekeeping resulted in a knock on the door 10-15 mins. later. No apology; simply "The power to this part of the hotel was turned off, and I'll turn it back on." Another 10 minutes later, the power was restored. Was the staff unaware that there were guests in the room? Check out time was not for 2 more hours. Complete ineptitude.
