We had a party-weekend with friends, and we were really satisfied with Hotel Manhattan. Super central location, nice, clean rooms, delicious breakfast, kind personal. I missed only the parking-opportunity.

We arrived in the city centre by train, so the location was very convenient. Our welcome in reception was friendly and helpful. The receptionist recommended a local Italian trattoria which was excellent and close by. We were upgraded to a superior room which had has been recently refurbished. It was very comfortable and the facilities were excellent also. All Frankfurt's attractions are within easy walking distance. If there was a down side, it would be that the area around the central station and the hotel is a bit sleazy after dark.

Room Tip: Ask for a "Superior" room.

We arrived in Frankfurt from Munich by train. The Manhattan looked close to the Bahnhof and that is one of the reasons we chose it. It was also a good rate and breakfast was included. The hotel is indeed close to the train station. Also, if you like walking as we do, it is fairly close to the old town, the river, and other plazas and shopping areas. However, the hotel is at the edge of an entertainment area specializing in gentleman's clubs and sex shops. There were sketchy looking people on the street, but we never had any problems coming and going even in the evening.

Check-in was easy and staff were pleasant and efficient. The guy at the desk even printed flight boarding passes for us. Room keys are old school style with a large fob. They recommend you leave the key with them when you go out. The lobby area is small but includes a few padded chairs and a TV. There is also a bar, but we didn't use it. Breakfast was included in the room rate and was very good. There were eggs, meat, cold cuts cheese and the cereals, yogurt etc, that are standard at hotel breakfasts. Everything was nicely prepared and very fresh.

The room looked recently renovated with new flooring and furniture. The bathroom was a good size with a tub/shower. We didn't have a room safe, but apparently some rooms do. Free WiFi and TV worked fine. There was a large desk and a bar fridge. The bed was good and the linens were nice too. The only real shortcoming was the noise coming up from the street periodically through the night. It seems it was a throughway to the area mentioned above.

If you are an urban dweller and not easily put off by a few street people, and looking for good value, then the Manhattan should be on your list.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not have a window on the lane next to the hotel.

We were near the end of a vacation with another couple and stayed here two (2) nights. We selected this hotel based on reviews and photos but mainly due to its excellent location to all modes of public transit. We found Robert and his staff were friendly, very helpful and professional. The lobby is very welcoming with its reception and bar and this contrasted with our first impressions as we walked up. We had to use the computer in the lobby and it could stand to be upgraded. The area behind the hotel is the "sketchy" red light district. We walked through there in the mid evening without being bothered but one should remain vigilant or walk around it. Unfortunately, the lane "walk through" beside the hotel made it noisy for us on both nights. Many hotels do not have a tub and our group was happy to have one in each of our newly renovated "Superior" rooms. The rooms were quite modern, very clean and quite adequate. There was no restaurant per se, but Breakfast and the room it was held in was excellent. Pillows were oddly oversized and you had to work with them to find "that sweet spot". Rooms had excellent window coverings for darkness. Wi-fi worked well and the fresh fruit was a nice touch. Although small, it was nice to have an elevator as well!

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, suggest a room away from the front street or side alley.

Hotel is right across the street from the main station so has great access to all public transport. Had a single room on second floor, room is small enough but fine for a solo traveller. It was spotless and very comfortable, bathroom was very clean too (although shower had a tendancy to got very hot at random times). Breakfast is fantastic with a large continental breakfast selection available and really nice coffee. Wi-fi worked great in lobby, breakfast room and halls.

Tip: I was in room 207 where the wi-fi signal was very patchy as it was furthest from router, found out by putting phone in closet it worked fine.

Good for overnight stopover if you are catching train next morning. Make sure when you are booking you check the bedding configuration. I booked two singles only to arrive to a double bed with my work colleague. To their credit they gave me another room at no cost with no fuss. Not a great part of Frankfurt though. Not for the kids !!

My colleague and I were a little apprehensive when the taxi pulled up in front but were pleasantly surprised and comforted once we entered the hotel. Due to its location by the station, the neighborhood seemed a little sketchy; but we chose that location for its convenience and it worked out well. I recommend ear plugs if you are a light sleeper but I recommend that for any room, any where.
The hotel is clean, modern and has an elevator (bonus!). Our fifth floor rooms were simple but well appointed and clean. They even provide a welcome plate of fruit... nice touch. The mini bar in the room came in handy and even had enough room for chilling a beverage or two of your own. Though upgraded, my colleague did end up with a very, very small room. (When we inquired about the difference in the size of our rooms, we were informed there were smaller rooms yet.)
Overall, our weekend stay was very nice. Small bar in the lobby, good for an evening drink or a nightcap. The breakfast was fabulous; they really put out a spread and it was all delicious. The hotel staff was polite (for the most part) but I do have to say we owe a great deal of thanks to Helen, the receptionist on duty the Friday we checked in. Helen was professional, personable, informative, entertaining and after we were there for just a short time, felt like a friend. She really made a nice stay truly enjoyable and the hotel memorable.

Room Tip: You might wish to ask about the size of your room before booking.
