“Worst Hotel”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

Savoy Hotel is the worst choice with extremely rude staff. We stayed there for 4 nights with the carpets stinking and even the rooms with very bad odour. The front desk manager was extremely rude and charged a a very high tariff 3 times the regular rate. one of the worst hotels we have stayed so far

I came for 2 nights for business.
First I got an occupied room - i could enter a room using a card I got but another guest has been already accomodated in the room.
The receptionist gave me another room.
The carpets were dirty, old not well working analogue TV, walls dirty.
I stayed for the 2 nights just not to make my company troubles but for my next trip I am going to ask not to be accomodated here.

Stayed here recently for 1 nite stay (Monday) and paid €260 for the priviledge of a sub standard double room. The room was small and very basic in all respects....it faced onto a main road, which was very noisy with plenty of beggars knocking about. There was some problem with the curtains in the room, which I couldn't close and didn't have time to report to the front desk....a safety pin saved the nite!

The only reason I don't give this hotel a 1 star is due to its really good breakfast @ €15 p/p.

.The front desk personnel were extremely rude. The desk clerk acted as if she was doing us a major favor by checking us in. I have never had this experience anywhere else in Germany. Walls we paper thin and hotel was extremely noisy. There are many other hotels close to railway station. Do not stay in this hotel. It is also far from the town center

Pretty Good, Free mini bar was great; staff friendly and helpful and spoke English well; some of the fittings in the shower had fallen off otherwise very good stay. The restaurant breakfast was impressive.

We stayed at this hotel the last night we were in Frankfurt before we headed home. We could not find reservations in other hotels close to Frankfurt Main so we reserved this one. The hotel is nicely located next to the train station. Even though we were on the 7th floor, the room was extremely noisy; no only we could hear the trains and trams, but also the person talking on the phone in the next room. Ear plugs are a must in this hotel. They should be offered as a complementary toiletry.
When we arrived we were welcomed by Vanessa who supposedly upgraded us to a better room on the 7th for free. When we arrived to the room we were wondering what was upgraded, we could not imagine what kind of room we reserved is this was the upgraded one. Maybe it was the floor where the room was located? Our reservation said: "Cozy room offers a cable TV, minibar and complimentary toiletries in the private bathroom.", but the bathroom only offered soap in one of those public soap dispensers. So, in our way out to dinner we asked Vanessa: “where were the complimentary toiletries that were offered in the private bathroom?” to what she responded: "where is the piece of paper that says you get complementary toiletries." Even though we had a copy of our reservation in the room after that kind of response, we left for dinner and forgot about any complementary anything.
At checkout we were told the room was already paid for, we guessed express checkout with no bill given to you, so we requested the paid bill. The credit card we used sent us an e-mail of all charges made to the credit card, but Wi-Fi was not offered for free in this hotel so we waited until we got back home to check e-mails. We saw 2 charges from Savoy Hotel: one for the room and another $66.00 for something we did not consume. We called the credit card and they called Savoy. The hotel attendant said that the charge was a hold on our credit card that will disappear in 2 to 5 days. It was odd to us that a credit card hold will still remain after the bill was paid in full. Maybe this is SOP for some hotels.

Very close to the train station and as I was travelling back and forth from Cologne and Eschweiller it was very handy. The room was basic, clean with air con which was fantastic seeing as we were there for one of the hottest times in Germany ever apparently. It was quite old fashioned but again I spent most of my time out in the city or beyond rather than in the room so it was fine. Not really for those who like to lounge around in bed! The best thing about it was that it was cheap and suited our type of holiday. The worst was the elevators, my heart was in my mouth from the rattling and shaking! If you are going here, the last and largest elevator of the left is the one to take so that you don't feel like you'll be plummeting to your death!!!

Room Tip: The ones at the back are quiet but no view.
