We had never stayed in the city of Frankfurt before but frequently changed planes at the airport, so we decided to spend the night of June 29th on our way to Hamburg and chose the InterContinental Frankfurt. With my husband's ambassador status, we were upgraded upon arrival at the hotel. While we waited for the room to be ready, the front desk person suggested we wait in the Club Lounge, where we found drinks and food available. Upon entry to the corner room with a wonderful view of Main River, we found a bottle of wine, bottled water, fruit and desserts. The separate bedroom, bathroom, and living space were very clean and comfortable. As with most InterContinentals, the bed was perfect and welcome. All of the employees were helpful, gracious and competent. Our breakfast the next morning was excellent and there were a number of possible food choices. The location was really a plus with the museums across the river via a walking bridge and many restaurants closeby. We will return.

Room Tip: Make sure you book a club room and ask for a view of the river.

I stayed here for only one night when visited the Messe, it's location was ideal, only a short walk from the centre of town and easy access with a car, parking is next door and is relatively inexpensive for an Intercontinental.

We arrived and were checked in with the upmost speed and as a Gold Ambassador got the traditional room upgrade FOC. On the outside the hotel did look slightly dated and inside was no different, while it didn't look unsightly, some of the furniture had age related wear. This was the same in the Room, it terms of size it was smaller than most of your average Premier Inn's, but this didn't bother me too much, there was still enough space to do everything but less than we expect these days from hotels.

We were lucky enough to have a river view of the Main and we were giving a high floor which only made the view even better, down in the concierge desk we were given directions to the main area to find restaurants, The concierge was helpful even though she was clearly busy with other exhibition attendees. The bedding was typical Intercontinental with its super soft sinking pillows and I slept very soundly.

The next day we chose to have the breakfast, which was priced at 33 euros each, a lot of money but it was absolutely unbelievable, the sheer amount of choice was staggering with 6 different milks on offer and a whole bakery to choose from plus every breakfast cuisine you can think of Everything was made in house which could be and this came through in the taste, it was that good it was just about worth the high price!

Overall I enjoyed my stay and will be staying there again when I return to Frankfurt in a few months, what brings it down is it's tired decor, which is looking its age, Get a refurbishment ASAP Intercontinental !!

I have written a very positive review on this Intercontinental Hotel on July 21st, 2010 and then stayed so many times because of the wonderful welcome I always receive when I check in and during all my stays. Useless to say again that the room is very well equipped, very comfortable and so clean and amenities in the bathroom very good, the food is delicious and the service very quick and efficient.
What makes me come back so often in this hotel are the magnificent view on the river Main, and last but not least the extreme kindness of Alex, the Guest-Relations Manager and his assistant, Christian, both are very competent, so helpful, so pleasant, very polite with extremely good manners, giving me good information and advice; they always find a way to smile and be patient even when they are very busy.
All in all, I love to spend some nights in this hotel and now I got the nice habit to come to Frankfurt three times a year and enjoy again what I call : "My second home".

Room Tip: A room with a view on the Main River !

Very nice hotel in easy reach of the main rail station (500m) and by default easy to get to from the airport. Very welcoming and professional staff. Backs onto the Rhine, s if you are lucky enough to get a river view, it is all the better. Akso very nice breakfast and dinners. Dinner was expensive, but excellent quality.

Room Tip: As for a river view.

I felt that the personal none overbearing service that is usual of the intercontinental was not there... the rooms were too small... the big "security" men on the door did not look very welcoming to the hotel... bathroom dirty... not comparable to vienna or london... will not return

Just got back from a one night Business stay at this hotel..

Location: Geographically for Frankfurt, it is good, because you are right on the river and 5 minutes walk from the Hauptbahnhof (main train station), but the immediate area around the hotel has nothing, would be nice if there were one or two restaurants/bars and supermarkets.

Room: It was big, clean, with a huge and comfortable bed, bathroom was ok, but everything a little dated, so a refurb should be planned! First time Ive seen bathroom scales in a hotel bathroom, the whole thing needs decluttering/modernising/redesigning/etc. The room did have a great view of the river though, and opposite side you will get an equivalent view of the Frankfurt skyline.

Reception Staff: Friendly, efficient, helpful, professional, speaking great English.

Food: Buffet Breakfast 31 EUROS!!! Even though this was a business trip, therefore not being paid out of my own pocket, I refuse to pay that much money for a 'help yourself' breakfast. My tip is to walk to the Hauptbahnhof and grab something for under 5 Euro instead.

Internet: Free in lobby, 8 Euro for one hour in the room, 24 Euro for 1 day.

Leisure Facilities: I wasnt here long enough to check anything out, but you can go for a run next to the river Main!

Shop: There is a shop in the hotel lobby selling luggage, handbags, over priced clothes, etc...why not have a shop selling water/toothpaste/postcards/chewing gum/etc instead?!!

Conclusion: Nothing majorly wrong with the hotel, but not the near top end experience you would expect, and starting to look tired. I could have got nicer for a third of the price.

Room Tip: High as possible to get the views
