on arriving at hotel after a long flight (12+ hours) the staff were very welcoming, our travel agent had booked a standard double room which was on the 17th floor, room very small bed was soft which was not good as we both have bad backs. Room clean, mini bar, air conditioner, tea/coffee facilities, free WIFI in lobby only.

We had a great time at the hotel. We were upgraded to the executive floor and the use of the executive lounge on the top floor was also offered to us. What a view of Frankfurt from there. The room was extremely spacious and very modern and comfortable. Clearly one of the best hotels I have stayed in with excellent service.

Having stayed at Intercontinental Frankfurt in the past we decided to stay again, this visit was for two nights and we booked a Club Studio King and being a Platinum Ambassador Member an upgrade is normally granted and within days of the booking we were notified through the IHG site that we had been upgraded already to a suite.

On arrival the check in clerk gave us a good welcome but unfortunately it went downhill from there, there was quite a lot a tapping on his computer and he was adamant that we were not entitled to an upgrade to the point he insisted that I booked a lesser room than the one I knew I booked.

We were not happy by this situation and we were seriously thinking of moving to another hotel and cancelling a future stay planned for end of September but that was the point when Nina, the Assistant Front Office Manager stepped in and in a flash turned the situation into a positive one and made our stay a very pleasant one. She explained what could have caused the mix up and was very diplomatic in her approach.

We were given Suite 1915 which comprised a sitting room with bathroom, a separate bedroom with bathroom, large bathtub and shower cubicle. In the sitting room there was a two seater sofa and two armchairs, there was a cabinet containing a mini bar, tea/coffee facilities as well as a Nespresso Coffee Machine. Within the cabinet was a good amount of storage space and also a old style TV with about 50 channels with an accompanying guide of channels available. In the room there was also a large writing desk with ample power sockets.

The bedroom was pleasant with comfortable beds, there was a TV in the room, again of old design but also with a multitude of channels. The fitted wardrobe contained a trouser press and a good amount of space for clothes. The bathroom was ideal with large bathtub, powerful shower and plenty of quality toiletries. There was an additional TV placed at the end of the bathtub.

Fruit and bottled water were brought to the room each day of our stay.

We had access to the Club Lounge which was open from breakfast until late at night. We were informed of what was available during the course of the day. Breakfast was ample with a good selection of cold cuts, a large selection of bread rolls, pastries, and a selection of hot items. Also a good choice of juices available. There were endless snacks available during day as well as soft drinks. In the evening there was a good selection of food available including hot items. Champagne and spirits were available for part of the evening.

The lounge was pleasant with formal seating as well as comfortable sofas in a cosy layout. There was a terrace with excellent views of the river and surrounding area.

We had a very enjoyable stay after quite a disappointing start. Many thanks to Nina on the front desk for her help; this is the reason why I have given five stars for handling a problem efficiently and expertly.

We look forward to returning next month.

First of all: Take care that you book a room at the "river wing". If not, you will stay in a re-branded formerly Holiday Inn across the street. If you further manage to obtain a high floor, you will be impressed about the views - either of the river Main on the one side or of the Frankfurt skyline on the other. And if finally you upgrade to "Club" level, you will enjoy the lounge at the top floor and its top beverage and food selections, unfortunately full offer only during the evening. Overall a very good option in Frankfurt if you are prepaired to spend a bit of money on the "extras" that make the difference.

Dear Joaquin M
ttank you for your entry at TripAdvisor. The InterContinental Frankfurt is operating only the Riverwing. Last year the Citywing was sold to another Non IHG brand. The nearest Holiday Inn is an Express close to the main Train Station. We highly much appreciate your comments about the Club level including the Club Lounge. This extra Benefit makes the different to the normal hotel rooms.
We look forward to welcome you back again in Frankfurt and wishing you all the best.

i stayed here for 3 nights on a business trip, the hotel is just 5-7 min walk from the main station . very near to the busy streets of the frankfurt. various restaurant options are available in near by streets. a taxi stand is just on the entrance of the hotel if u req one.

staffs of the hotel are great very helpful and friendly. Wi-fi is at lobby so during crowded times seat is a constrain. hotel provides u with desktop PC with printers free during the stay .this was very helpful. breakfast was decent .good variety of continental food. but again during peak times we need a 5-10 min wait to get a seat.but the staff are very accomadative to obtain us a seat.the hotel is just on the rover bank so the parks and walking tracks on the river is very good to explore the old town and the city as a whole.
