“A Christmas Market trip”
Reviewed 9 December 2013

The Palmenhof is equidistant between Bockenheimer and Westend U bahn stations and 15 minutes on foot to Hauptwache...so extremely well situated.

The reception is manned 24 hours a day and all of the team are friendly and helpful with recommendations of local tipples and culinary treats.

We spent 3 full days walking around the Weihnacht's Markt, shopping malls and visiting museums and we would definitely return to Frankfurt and have no hesitation in staying at the Palmenhof again.

The only slight niggle was that there is no kettle in the room, but even as a big coffee drinker I survived and next time I'll be prepared!

Nice rooms and well located if you're working in the area. Great traditional German pub next door serves good food and drinks. Beware the WiFi was 5 Euro for 24hr access limited to 100mb max download though. I booked with Expedia and breakfast was not included despite my paying for the superior room. The room was great, well appointed with high ceilings and very comfortable furniture.

Room Tip: Pay for a superior room upgrade and ask for a street view - recommend room 12 - large and spacious o...

This hotel within an easy walk to the city centre and also to gardens. It is good value for money. Helpful front desk staff. Rooms at the back are quiet and all are clean and comfortable. The only downside was that breakfast was fairly unimaginatively presented and when paying extra for this would expect better quality, especially information as to what is available e.g. cooked or not (there was no cooked food in the 'hot' dishes. But despite this relatively minor issue, will return.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel

We spent two nights at the Palmenhof and were very happy with our choice. The hotel is well situated, close to an underground station, Bochenheimer Warte, with easy access to Frankfurt City centre. The hotel is also an easy stroll away from the Palmengarten, which is well worth a visit, especially on a Sunday, when little else is open.
The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. Our room was at the back of the hotel and was very quiet. The hotel fronts on to a fairly busy road, Bockenheimer Landstrasse, and so rooms at the front may be a little noisier.
We had little contact with the staff, other than to check in and check out again, but they were friendly and efficient on both occasions. We would use this hotel again.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel may be quieter

Styled in quite a traditional/Art Deco/ Pre War fashion, this hotel is everything you need. Helpful staff with fluent english, who are only too happy to help with any queries you have about the hotel or tourist attractions in the city. It is very well situated near the univerity, Palmengarten and an underground station, which will take you to the city centre in around five mins. I cant recomend the hotel enough, the only thing I would say is that the beds/mattresses could use renewing perhaps, although they were comfortable enough, and that it is just a pity they dont have an evening restaurant on site (Although, it is situated near some very good ones on Bockenheimer Landstrasse). It meets all of your expectaions otherwise.

When traveling to Germany Frankfurt we will always stay in this hotel. Good location as it is near the tube. Nearby there are a few eateries and a cafe that sells a wide range of gorgeous looking cakes, sandwiches, pastries and hot drinks. The room is clean, big enough to accommodate our big opened luggages and still sufficient walking space. Bed is ok but super flat squarish pillows which we have to fold into half (it becomes our nomal pillow size) and stuff towels in between to get the volume! The hotel doesn't use access cards. It uses keys that comes with a big heavy ball attached, bulky enough you won't want to carry it out cos it's heavy. Overall comfortable stay.

It's a small hotel, rooms are big and well equipped, expensive during the Musik messe I attended to. Not free WIFI and no restaurant. Breakfast very expensive for what you get.
