“A good 4 star Hotel in a convenience location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 May 2012

Stayed there during IMEX 2012. The Hotel is outside Frankfurt , bur very near to U bahn station with good connection about 15min. drive. Staff friendly and helpful, breakfast ok and restaurant ok. The only think that should be improved is WIFI reception in some rooms. I was staying at 208 and had problems connecting to the internet with my ipad.

Stayed for one night on a business trip. Its in Frankfurts outskirts, and has free parking, a big plus if you are travelling by car. The access is near Bergen-Enkheim, easy to reach. The drawback is that right now they are digging up the roads all around this place, so during rush hour, expect long jams. There is a subway stop almost right outside the hotel. If you want to go out in the evening, i suggest you use this. On the other hand, using the subway in Frankfurt late at night if you are a single female traveller is nothing I would recommend.
The room was standard hotel, clean, and the prices of the minibar quite reasonable. There is a big shopping mall right outside as well, but offers not much in terms of nice dining opportunites.
Big plus is free wireless internet in the hotel, something which can not be taken for granted in Germany.
The staff at the reception was very friendly, and printed some street directions out for me.
The surrounding is not scenic, and you are not close to Frankfurts rather interesting night spots.
In terms of facilities, not sure what they can offer. I spotted a sign saying if you are interested in fitness, you should contact the reception. Since i did not bring any equipment, i did not try it out. It would be a huge plus to be able to do some sports there, since as mentioned, the range of other activities close by is rather limited.

The hotel is average at best, heating was not working in the middle of the winter, and was not fixed even after two days. Instead, I was given a small portable heater, with no attempt to go for a repair. The room had seen its best days, stains on the carpet, bathroom not worthy a four-star rating. If you plan a business trip to Frankfurt City, plan an hour in the morning during rush hour. The hotel is on the outskirts of the city, with traffic jams a given, due to the fact that all the traffic from east of Frankfurt is channeled through the street where the hotel is located.

Very clean, tidy and comfortable rooms, although not extremely modern. Very good free wlan in the whole hotel. Surprisingly good food at their own restaurant. The breakfast buffet was very rich and fresh. A couple of big shopping centres at 5 minutes walking distance. Extremely good price/quality ratio, hard to find anything better for such a low price.

I have stayed at the Amadeus every year for the last 5 years while attending a trade show and I find it very adequate for my needs. The location is great and not great. Great because it’s an easy 20 minute commute on the U-Bahn into the city (the station is a few minutes walking from the hotel) not so great because the immediate area around the hotel is pretty commercial and not exactly full of entertaining evening options unless you like wandering around a mall (the hotel is opposite the Hessen Center). That said; there are some good restaurants around once you find them like La Perla which I reviewed separately. The hotel building is relatively modern & very clean although I would say the rooms are getting a little tired and could do with a facelift. There is a small bar that can get crowded if the hotel is busy and a reasonably priced restaurant that serves reliably decent food albeit the menu is not overly creative. The staff are all very polite, efficient and helpful in the extreme. Last year I was stranded for two days due to bad weather and cancelled flights so I needed to extend my stay. Even though the hotel was full the staff went to great lengths to find me a small “studio” they created from the end of a meeting room which was quite nice enough and they insisted on only charging me 30 Euros a night for it when I would gladly have paid more. The self-serve unlimited buffet breakfast is a high point. The selection of hot and cold food is very impressive including excellent cheeses and deli meats, smoked salmon, bacon, eggs, fresh breads and so forth. Some rates include the breakfast, if excluded you will be charged an extra EUR 16.50 per person which is OK if you have a good appetite and take advantage of the selection. Free wireless internet is provided plus there is a small business center with copying facilities. The hotel also has a nice meeting room with flip charts, an overhead projector and other basics provided as part of the quite reasonable rental fee. Room prices are good for a major city and it seems to me you can usually do better booking through a wholesale site such as Expedia rather than direct with the hotel. The cost varies by day but you can expect to pay (without breakfast) between $60-70 for a single room on weekends and $80-90 during the week. A double room ups the price by around $20 per night but even if you are travelling alone it’s worth it if your budget allows as the single beds are almost cots so if you like to spread out a little between the sheets opt for the double room that has a queen bed. The Amadeus is definitely not “luxury”. There are no bath tubs in any room although the somewhat cramped showers are powerful enough and instantly hot. The towels are very thin material, you don’t get nice shampoos and other goodies etc. What you do get is a good room rate, easy access to the city and festhalle plus everything you need as a business traveler that doesn’t need anything swanky. No doubt you could stay there with the family for vacation purposes but based on the location and the amenities the Amadeus is really a very decent “business hotel” and it does well at being just that. If you get a taxi from the main airport it will take from 20 to 35 minutes subject to traffic and you can expect to pay about EUR 40. Alternatively you can take the U9 train from terminal 1, change at the Hauptbahnhoff to the U4 and be at the hotel for a lot less money in about 40 minutes depending on the train schedule. If you do take a taxi be sure to have the full address and phone number of the hotel as not all drivers know the location. If you get stuck telling the driver the hotel is “am Hessen Center” usually does the trick.

Room Tip: Take a double room for the extra $20 if you like a queen bed.

We stayed 5 nights in this hotel and enjoyed it a lot. Location is just perfect, Breakfast out of this world, Restaurant excellent, Rooms are nice and clean, Service extremely professional. Shopping facilities in the nearby Hessen Center is a huge advantage as well. Would recommend this hotel anytime.

Convenient enough to take train to airport, good for last evening. Staff was very accommodating and dinner at the hotel was very good. Liked coffee service availability. The 'kitchenette' did lack as there was nothing stocked. Also, no ice machines available but front desk did provide a pitcher for me to bring some back to room. Nice touch to have appetizer available prior to dinner. Room was clean and comfortable.
