“Functional accomodation, not so well located”
Reviewed 19 March 2014

As with all Frankfurt hotels during fair time, I found the hotel to be really expensive compared with the facilities available. The wifi worked well though . I was unhappy with the way the rooms were cleaned, the glasses were left unwashed and it looked like the rooms were cleaned in a hurry. Very ungerman. I did not like the location, it was at least a 10 minute walk from the underground station, quite far from the city centre. The location was very quiet and peaceful. The reception staff were courteous and helpful

We stayed for 3 nights. Excellent location, close to all amenities and on a very quiet side street.
We checked in with a pleasant and helpful receptionist, housekeeping requests (extra pillows, towels) were met quickly and courteously. Decor a little dated and exterior decidedly stark, but we slept well and felt welcome. It's fairly basic, so suitable if you're on the go and need a clean, safe base. Worked very well for us.

After reading the reviews on here I was dreading going but I was happily surprised. The receptionist was really friendly and helpful upon arrival and my room was really big and roomy with a fridge and nice bathroom. I noticed no dirt and for the price this was good. I did not try breakfast but it was only 8 Euros. The location is really good - just 1 stop away from Konstablerwache/city. I would recommend this hotel if you are not on a high budget and would say that some of the comments on this hotel are unjuust

3 members are staff were awful, rude and unhelpful. One girl tried to get me to change room at 9.30am on a Sunday, which I thought was inconsiderate and inconvenient.
Noisy rooms, no Wi-fi, no info about buses to airport if leaving from Hann airport.
Overall disappointing, I would not stay here again.

We arrived at the hotel to find construction going on at the front of the rather aesthetically unpleasing hotel. There was debris falling from the building and we had to wait for the workers to notice us before we could walk in the entrance. We checked in and found we had been allocated a room second from the front. We entered our room and found that my wife and I could literally not hear each other speak due to the banging, drilling and hammering going on metres from our room. I went down to ask reception when this might stop and was told that the hotel had been told they need to install windows by the fire department and this should be finished by four today. After setting in we went to take a walk outside and standing in the foyer we could see debris falling in front of the exit slamming onto the small awning above the door. Again we had to wait for the construction workers to notice us before we could safely exit. Lucky for us the window was at least installed on our floor by the end of that day, the floors above us were not so lucky. The pillow on the bed was some terribly uncomfortable large thing that managed to dissolve into nothing when you place your head on it. Everything else was okay.

Room Tip: Bring a hard hat.

Stayed here for one night, arrived at 4am due to problems, not open and had to call the number on the intercom. Got key ok but was told we could not use car park. Room was extremely hot and stuffy. A very noisy area surrounding also. Desk stuff in the morning were unhelpful and would not even lift their head from the PC screen to acknowledge you. Breakfast was mediocre at best.
As a 1 night stop over to just lay your head, this place is ok. Anything more buy a tent!

This is the third time we've stayed at the Mercator but it may well be the last. Good things: the location is great, the rooms are good value for money and it's very convenient for our needs when visiting Frankfurt. This may not be enough to make us return a fourth time, though. While the guy in the evening shift was helpful and pleasant to deal with, the woman taking care of the morning shift is in dire need of some hospitality and customer service training. The least that can be expected from someone working the front desk is a welcoming attitude and a will to help customers. Not this woman. Her manners and attitude were a nightmare, going from apathetic to easily frustrated to downright rude. After travelling all around the world and staying in all manner of places, ranging from budget hostels to 5-star palaces, this is the first time we may not be returning somewhere solely due to the behaviour of one member of the staff.
