Hotel is neat, clean and petty new. The rooms are a bit small, but enough to accommodate our family of 4. The value is excellent, we didn't have to pay for the kids in a 4 bed room. The small breakfast buffet is sufficient to get you going for the day.
If you need to catch an early flight, I recommend to stay there!

We stayed 2 nights at the Meininger Airport Hotel in January 2014. The desk clerks were well informed, but not all that friendly. The room was clean, but very small. We had reserved a double room for two adults. As is the custom, there were two twin beds adjoining one another. The linens were clean, but the beds we're really uncomfortable. They had innerspring mattresses, and the cushioned tops had definitely seen their better days. The springs poked us, so it was difficult to sleep on them. There was a very nice breakfast every morning, and the ladies who worked in that area were really great. They we're friendly and quick to help when we had questions or needed anything. There was toast, boiled eggs, a selection of fresh fruit, meats and cheeses, yogurt with canned fruit, dry cereals, milk, coffee and a juice selection. Healthy and filling, as well as reasonably priced. Also, for those who want to, you can buy your own food and cook it in a small kitchen set up for guests. We thought that was a good idea. We ate breakfast in the breakfast area both mornings. We walked to the airport once and it was fairly close. As you come out the front door of the Meininger, turn left. Go to the first corner and turn right, right again at the next corner. Once you're on airport grounds, keep going straight ahead until you get to the building. There's a sidewalk at the building, turn right and follow it to the stairs that will take you to the upper level. Cross the automobile driveway and enter the terminal. You'll be in terminal 1. It's about a 10-12 minute walk. The shuttle is really quick, about 3 to 5 minutes. To catch the shuttle to the airport, you'll need to go to the front desk and pay 3 Euros per person, then just get in the shuttle and you're off! The only problem we had was not being able to use the dryer, and the shower didn't drain well. We had noticed the washer and dryer in the guest kitchen earlier, but when we asked the desk clerks about using the dryer, we were told it was not working. Another clerk came over and said it was working, but it would take about 3.5 hours to dry clothes. It was free for guests to use. We tried using it but it didn't seem to dry well, so we gave up.

My wife and I stayed at the Meininger Frankfurt Airport hotel for 4 nights in December, a short 5-minute drive from the airport by shuttle. The shuttle ride is free from the airport to the hotel, and 3 euros per person from the hotel to the airport.

The hotel is in an area with plenty of new construction going on, and also has several vacant lots around it, so the surrounding area isn’t pleasing to look at for the moment.

The hotel itself is very clean, well run, and has an excellent staff, all of whom speak excellent English. The rooms are fairly spacious for the money, and were very quiet at night during our stay. Our maid service was excellent, and the maids knew (I suppose from the room key plugged into the electricity slot) when we were in. It saved them from disturbing us when they were ready to clean the room.

The hotel has a small restaurant, though we only purchased coffee and tea from the combination bar / front desk area.

There was no in-room safe, but secure lockers are available for no charge (a 5 euro deposit for the key) in the lobby. The lockers were large enough for laptops, tablets, cameras, and several smaller items – a nice alternative to the in-room safe.

The room also had a nice sofa for reading or other day work, plus a fold-out surface on the night stand for a little extra work space. All in all, the room layout and decorations were simple, clean, and elegant, and we enjoyed our stay.

Unlike my other reviews, this one is going to be fairly short. I booked a room at the Meininger hoping for one thing and one thing only - a decent night's sleep before a transatlantic flight. When I got to the hotel, I was a bit surprised by how youth-oriented it looked before I realized that it was, in fact, a ho(s)tel that had private rooms as well as family rooms and dorm-style accommodations. No matter - I had a private, so it didn't really matter. The front desk staff was friendly and spoke excellent English. When I was asked to pay 3 EUR for a shuttle to the airport and came to realize I had no cash, they even (reluctantly) comped me a token. So far, so good. The place also felt neat and clean, which isn't always the case with hostels. Oh yeah - I paid approximately $51 for a last-minute deal on Hotels.com for a room they claimed to had been discounted from $160. The importance of this will become apparent shortly.

When I got to my room, I realized the entire hoStel nature of the property. Three narrow beds, evenly spaced, greeted me. Made perfect sense - since they couldn't fill the room with three people paying $50 per, they just sold me the entire thing, figuring it would at least bring someone in. Great. Except the quality and size of beds made me wish I'd splurged an extra $30 on a true private, even if it would have had a double bed comprised of two singles side by side. That, however, was not the issue. I've slept on narrow beds that were quite comfortable before (Hotel Princesa Sofia in Barcelona comes to mind). These, on the other hand, made me wish I slept at the airport instead - at least I wouldn't have paid to sleep on what was essentially a bench covered with a sheet. To top things off, the pillows were gigantic and rigid, so I ended up fashioning a softer one out of a blanket from one of the other beds.

One thing to note - there isn't a cash machine in the hotel and the bar doesn't take credit cards for amounts below 10 EUR, which I discovered after wandering down for a beer at 1:30 a.m., unable to force myself to fall asleep. So, if you find yourself at Meininger, make sure to bring some cash.

Not much else to say except the shower cabin is predictably small, but the shower itself worked very well - better than in some 4-star hotels I had experienced earlier on my travels. The shuttle ride to the terminal takes less than five minutes door to door. So, if they had figured out that even hostel guests like sleeping on real beds, I'd be giving the place a 4, if not a 5.

Room Tip: Ask, if you can, for a normal room. Even if you get a 3-person room when traveling by yourself - in...

If what you need is a clean, comfortable and convenient airport hotel with a friendly staff, one need look no further than the Meininger.

It is hard to find fault with an airport hotel a mere 5 minutes from the Frankfurt airport. True, one can dither about other hotels that may have more spacious rooms, sheets with higher thread counts, larger bathrooms, etc, etc. But, at less than $100 per night for a hotel that while rooms may be a bit small, they are stylishly done, free wi-fi and free shuttle from the airport to the hotel and 3 Euro from hotel to airport, one cannot go wrong. There is a small brasserie in the reception area offering salads, pizza and sandwiches, along with very nice draft been and a selection of wines and bottled beers, all at rather reasonable prices. If what you need is a clean, comfortable and convenient hotel with a friendly staff, one need look no further than the Meininger.
