Owner description: Destroyed by Allied bombing in 1944, Frankfurt's beautifully reconstructed opera house was reopened in 1981. It's now a major venue for concerts and operas.

I agree with all the many comments about the building, but the restaurant in it also deserves praise. It is one of my favorites in Frankfurt, with excellent food and service. And of course the ambiance is wonderful. It is in what was probably the entrance lobby in the old days.

The restaurant (the name escapes me at the moment) is definitely upscale but worth it.

Saw "Westside Story" with my mum. Nice building, good acoustics. Food and drinks pretty expensive, so don't go hungry or thirsty!

Stunning building. Built initially in 1880, it was severely damaged during WWII, but completely rebuilt, re-opening finally in 1981, 100 years after the first construction. They kept the grandeur of the original exterior, but the interior is now modern, and with beautiful acoustic. Just been to a beautiful concert here. Definitely one of the highlights of the city.

The most majestic building in Frankfurt. It is no 'West end' or 'Broadway' but I certainly am impressed by this building.
In the summer it is a beautiful place to stand and watch people walk past and in this summer light it looks even the more special.
You can wander into the front foyer to scatch a glimpse of the inside architecture.
Even if it is for a photo opportunity, please stop here once.

Although it is no longer used regularly as an opera house, there are still some concerts there. In addition to its functionality, it is one of the most beautiful buildings in Frankfurt which is quite a poor city in terms of "old architecture" compared to similar European cities.
