“Fine for a night or two.”
Reviewed 27 June 2011

I stayed in this hotel for a night in May and I was happy enough with it. It's an Ibis hotel so don't expect luxury, but it's clean and modern and the location is quite good as well. The area around the Hauptbahnhof/train station in Frankfurt is a bit dodgy, but this hotel is not in a bad area and you can easily avoid the red light district when walking to the city centre (about a 10 min walk).

Our room and especially the bathroom were very small, so I wouldn't really stay there for more than one or two nights. Breakfast was very nice, great selection of food available and everything seemed very fresh.

Parking is very reasonable compared to other hotels in Frankfurt and we only had to pay for one day even though we stayed for more than 24 hours, so that was nice.

During showers, water leaks out through the shower doors onto the floor.
It would be nice to have two more smaller towels for the face.
For some reason, I was not able to get on the net with my Apple computer in the reception area.

It's an Ibis! What are you expecting? This one is conveniently located near the main train station and very close to the Main river. I walked over after arriving by train in Ffm. It's nothing special but again, you know this when booking. More importantly, it's clean, easy to get to and somewhat central and the employees are professional. I was pleasantly greeted upon arrival and checked in quickly. The breakfast buffet was also good and quite extensive for this price class. I only stayed here very briefly to get some sleep and had breakfast in the morning. Was then on my way and as check-out was already done at check-in, I just handed the card back and was out the door. The rooms are quite small so do beware of this when booking. Ask for a room facing the courtyard if you want your quiet. Finally, they also have their own garage below the building.

This hotel is a short 5>7 minute walk from Frankfurt's Central Train Station...3 or 4 stops from the airport. Relatively easy to find (look for their exit sign high above the exit to the left (if facing) the departing regional train tracks on the main level). It is SO much better than most, if not all, of the other similar star rated/priced hotels in the Central Station area. Clean Clean Clean in all respects. In an actual neighborhood with people living there and shops/businesses/restaurants servicing them. Friendly and knowledgably front desk staff.

Comp internet/wi fi in lobby with computer for guest use (20 minute limit when others are waiting). Great comfortable bar/snack area with a full selection of drinks/wine/snacks/meals.

I really liked the fun/funky aspect of the hotels common area decor...especially the hall way walls on the guest floors. The elevator is huge by European standards and quick to lift or bring you down.

This property is across the street from the River Main and offers excellent access to walking/jogging/bike paths that will take you to other parts of town/suburbs. I inquired at the front desk about just walking/sightseeing and was given a map and the gent pointed out some areas of interest with lots of shops and restaurants etc. So I was off and ended up in Offenbach, a local residential area. Great place. Quiet, yet in the midst of it all. Found a great outdoor place for a typical German lunch...I think I was the only English speaking there but no matter, the service lady speaks English and they have English menu. Ended up with chicken schnitzel and was easily talked into the 'fried' potatoes with onion in lieu of the potato salad...washed it all down with a beer or two...was to my recollection about 15Euro..not cheap but hey I was at a comfy outdoor cafe in Frankfurt away from the crowds...

after my lunch I went walking along the River Main...beautiful old mansions lining the street facing what is now downtown/central Frankfurt...all of them restored and one was turned into a grand park and restaurant for all to enjoy...lots of museums around that area too...

found my way up to the Zeil...and joined in the thongs of people just out and about on a lovely European spring day...of course shopping is king at this locale with the requiste bars/coffee shops/restaurants thrown in for good measure...

after returning to the Ibis and resting up abit, I took a walk out the front door and to the right...quickly realized I was in a neighborhood! Lo and behold...what a blessing and only minutes from Central Station! Walked around quite abit and came upon a factory of sorts...complete with train tracks leading up to it (which explained the train engine I had seen earlier pass on by between the hotel and the River Main...this area I would ID as heavily ethnic...saw a few Persian eateries...lots of Middle Eastern shops...and a smattering of 'other' places...also what appeared to be a big high school or...

finally ended up at Ristorante-Pizzeria Da Michele at Gutleutstr. 127...right around the corner and down a short block from the front entrance to the Ibis...friendly neighborhood place...outdoor/indoor seating...opted for outdoor...had a glass of house red...they only serve Italian wines here, of which I know nada, but the waiter (German/English speaking) pointed me to the house red...and at 3.5 Euro it was well worth it...I wasn't in the mood for pizza for opted for the Spaghetti Carbonara (6 Euro)...total bill for relaxation...great meal/wine with people watching tossed in gratis...13 Euro...

I left before breakfast the next morning as my flight out of FRA was pretty early...it was not included in the price I paid (85usd), but was available for 10 Euro if wanted...

One last thought: the windows OPEN!! Yahoo...fresh air...I loath Air Con and always shut it off...the system they have allows complete shut off and the room window opens to a certain degree, as does the bathroom window...small feature, but to a fresh air fanatic like me...invaluable...Bravo..

Room Tip: just be polite and ask...

This hotel offers the Ibis standard: Small but clean and modern rooms, with good value, appealing to may business travelers. My room was very small, but located on the back of the hotel overlooking a courtyard, so was very quiet. Unlike many European hotels, it had AC, which was a big plus as the weather was quite hot. The location is great; a short walk from the main train station and also a short walk to the center of town. Extremely helpful staff. Nothing special, but very acceptable and great value.
