I had planned to go to the Jewish Museum, but it is under renovation so I went to Judengasse Museum and Old Jewish Cemetery instead. Sobering to see all the little memorials on the walls of the cemetery remembering Frankfurt's Jews who lost their lives in the Holocaust. Alphabetical order so it was easy to find Annelies Frank.

Very nice graveyard, a lot of big trees shading it, with also an interesting, touching wall around it.

The cemetery is located next to the Jewish museum. You can get the keys from the Jewish museum reception. The walls of the cemetery are covered from outside with 11,000 names of Frankfurt Jews that were murdered during the Nazi regime. Where there is no name it indicates the person name was taken off since she/he succeeded to escape. In the cemetery are headstones of an older graveyard that was completely destroyed by the Nazis. Among those graves is also Moshe Rothschild, the head of the Rothschild family. 2/3 of the place was destroyed and the remaining graves are covered with moss. Need quick cleaning so that will be readable again. Avoid visiting on Saturday as it is closed
